16. Renal hemodynamics in renal artery stenosis and angiotensin II-dependent hypertension. Pathophysiological and diagnostic aspects
Sammanfattning : Patients with renovascular hypertension have a poor renal and cardiovascular prognosis. To improve the care of these patients, we need to increase knowledge about the pathophysiological mechanisms involved. LÄS MER
17. Helicobacter pylori associated effects on inflammatory radical formation and angiotensin II receptors in the stomach
Sammanfattning : Helicobacter pylori infection of the stomach always results in mucosal inflammation and a marked systemic immune response. Despite the profound host defence reactions the bacterium avoids elimination and persists in the mucosa. This results in chronic inflammation and an increased risk for peptic ulcers and adenocarcinoma. LÄS MER
18. Ligands of the Angiotensin II Type 2 Receptor : Exploring structure and function of the AT2R ligand C38
Sammanfattning : The renin-angiotensin-aldosterone-system (RAAS) control blood-pressure regulation, exerted by the main effector peptide angiotensin II (AngII) binding the angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R). While hypertension is the most known disease caused by over-activity in RAAS, several proteins in the system exhibit protective functions. LÄS MER
19. Palladium(0)-Catalyzed Spirocyclization and Carbonylation Reactions : Ligands Targeting the Angiotensin II Type 2 Receptor
Sammanfattning : Palladium(0)-catalyzed chemistry represents one of the most important methods for the construction of carbon-carbon bonds, which are ubiquitous in organic compounds. The first part of this thesis describes the palladium(0)-catalyzed diastereoselective Mizoroki-Heck reaction of Vince lactam-derived precursors for the formation of spiroindolines (paper I) and spirooxindoles, which are scaffolds present in several natural products with interesting biological activity. 20. Design and Synthesis of AT2 Receptor Selective Angiotensin II Analogues Encompassing β- and γ-Turn Mimetics
Sammanfattning : Important information on the bioactive conformation of biologically active peptides may be obtained by studies of rigid peptides or well-defined secondary structure mimetics incorporated into pseudopeptides. The structural requirements for the interaction of angiotensin II (Ang II, Asp-Arg-Val-Tyr-Ile-His-Pro-Phe) with its AT1 and AT2 receptors were the subject of this study. LÄS MER
