    Sammanfattning : This dissertation examines the public interventions, rhetoric, and actions of liberal intellectuals in Turkey between the early 1990sand 2012 regarding the rights of Kurdish and Islamic actors and restrictions on discussing the Armenian Genocide of 1915. Theanalysis of diverse texts published by the interconnected intellectuals – newspaper columns, academic articles, policy papers,reports, and manifestos – and the institutions they used shows how an effective counter-public could take shape in relation to thestate and to dominant publics. 2. 2. Pinpointing biomarkers of importance for children with combined type 1 diabetes and celiac disease

    Författare :Andrea Tompa; Maria Faresjö; Karin Åkesson; Mikael Karlsson; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 diabetes; celiac disease; children; biomarkers; immune markers; flow cytometry; cryopreservation; T cells; T-regulatory cells; B cells; B-regulatory cells; cytokines; chemokines; acute phase proteins; adipocytokines; matrix metalloproteinases;

    Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes (T1D) and celiac disease are both characterized by an autoimmune feature. The diseases also share the same risk genes, and thereby patients have an increased risk of developing the other disease subsequently. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Semi-mechanistic models of glucose homeostasis and disease progression in type 2 diabetes

    Författare :Steve Choy; Maria Kjellsson; Mats Karlsson; Willem de Winter; Andrea Mari; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by consistently high blood glucose, resulting from a combination of insulin resistance and reduced capacity of β-cells to secret insulin. While the exact causes of T2DM is yet unknown, obesity is known to be a major risk factor as well as co-morbidity for T2DM. LÄS MER

  4. 4. On the Design of Next-Generation Routers and IP Networks

    Författare :Jing Fu; Gunnar Karlsson; Andrea Bianco; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; router architecture; IP-network architecture; Telecommunication; Telekommunikation;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates distributed router architectures and IP networks with centralized control. While the current trend in IP-router architectures is towards decentralized design, there have also been research proposals for centralizing the control functions in IP networks. LÄS MER

  5. 5. System Design for Opportunistic Networks

    Författare :Sylvia T. Kouyoumdjieva; Gunnar Karlsson; Andrea Passarella; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; opportunistic communication; system design; mobility; energy-saving mechanisms; device-to-device communication; mobile data offloading; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Device-to-device communication has been suggested as a complement to traditional cellular networks as a means of offloading cellular traffic. In this thesis we explore a solution for device-to-device communication based on opportunistic content distribution in a content-centric network. LÄS MER
