11. Microwave Frequency Stability and Spin Wave Mode Structure in Nano-Contact Spin Torque Oscillators
Sammanfattning : The nano-contact spin torque oscillator (NC-STO) is an emerging device for highly tunable microwave frequency generation in the range from 0.1 GHz to above 65 GHz with an on-chip footprint on the scale of a few μm. LÄS MER
12. Resonator sensor technique for medical use : an intraocular pressure measurement system
Sammanfattning : In the work of this doctoral dissertation a new resonator sensor technique, first presented in 1989, has been further developed and evaluated with focus on technical characteristics and applications within the medical field. In a first part a catheter-type tactile sensor using the resonator sensor technique was evaluated in a silicone model and applied to human prostate in vitro. LÄS MER
13. Modeling Silicon Diode Dose Response in Radiotherapy Fields using Fluence Pencil Kernels
Sammanfattning : In radiotherapy, cancer is treated with ionizing radiation, most commonly bremsstrahlung photons from electrons of several MeV. Secondary electrons produced in photon-interactions results in dose deposition. The treatment response is low for low doses, raises sharply for normal treatment doses and saturates at higher doses. 14. Adolescents at risk of persistent antisocial behaviour and alcohol problems : The role of behaviour, personality and biological factors
Sammanfattning : Antisocial behaviour and alcohol problems are areas of great concern to society, not only associated with personal and emotional costs for the affected individuals and their victims, but also with major societal financial costs. What makes some individuals more likely than others to develop these kinds of problems? The general aim of this thesis was to explore the role of individual characteristics in the development of antisocial behaviour and alcohol problems. LÄS MER
15. Modern multimodal methods in brain MRI
Sammanfattning : Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is one of the pillars of modern medical imaging, providing a non-invasive means to generate 3D images of the body with high soft-tissue contrast. Furthermore, the possibilities afforded by the design of MRI sequences enable the signal to be sensitized to a multitude of physiological tissue properties, resulting in a wide variety of distinct MRI modalities for clinical and research use.
