  1. 1. Mechanisms and Consequences of Chromosomal Instability in Malignant tumours

    Författare :Ylva Stewénius; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; structural rearrangement; Ewing family tumour; Chromosomal instability; nephroblastoma; Wilms tumour; chromosomal aberration; anaphase bridge; subtelomeric FISH; breakage-fusion-bridge cycle;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, telomere deficiency with subsequent anaphase bridging was found to be associated with chromosomal instability in established colorectal cancer cell lines and in Wilms tumour. In colorectal cancer cell lines, anaphase bridging was observed to generate both numerical and structural chromosomal aberrations and was also associated with the presence of multipolar mitoses. 2. 2. Chromosomal Instability and Genomic Amplification in Bone and Soft Tissue Tumours

    Författare :David Gisselsson Nord; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nuclear atypia; kinetochore; anaphase bridge; p53; breakage-fusion-bridge cycle; TP53; HMGIC; MDM2; mitotic instability; genomic instability; FISH; osteosarcoma; liposarcoma; amplification; tumour; chromosome; cytogenetics; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Acquired genetic abnormalities are found in all types of malignant tumours and may contribute to neoplastic processes by altering protein structure or dosage. Many bone and soft tissue tumours (BSTT) are characterised by complex patterns of chromosome changes, including extensive intratumour heterogeneity and amplification of DNA sequences. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Oncogenic Pathways and Molecular Prognostics in Neuroblastoma

    Författare :Kristoffer von Stedingk; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neuroblastoma; Prognostics; Telomerase; snoRNP; miR-17-92; TGF-β; Notch; Hypoxia; Angiogenesis;

    Sammanfattning : Neuroblastoma is an embryonal malignancy that accounts for 15% of all cancer related deaths amongst children. Although the overall survival of patients has been improving over the last decades, the high-risk neuroblastoma patients have a survival rate of ... LÄS MER

  4. 4. Genetic studies of acute lymphoblastic leukemia

    Författare :Ekaterina Kuchinskaya; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common pediatric malignancy, comprising approximately 25% of all childhood cancers. A huge improvement in outcome of children with ALL during the last 20 years has resulted in remission rates exceeding 95% and a 5 year event-free-survival approaching 80%. LÄS MER
