  1. 11. Endocannabinoids and N-acylethanolamines in translational pain research : from monoacylglycerol lipase to muscle pain

    Författare :Nazdar Ghafouri; Christopher J Fowler; Andrew SC Rice; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Monoacylglycerol lipase; endocannabinoid; palmitoylethanolamide; N-acylethanolamines; microdialysis; chronic widespread pain; muscle pain; trapezius;

    Sammanfattning : In the early nineties cannabinoid receptors, the main target for Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive component of marijuana were identified. Shortly after their endogenous ligands, N-arachidonoylethanolamine (anandamide, AEA) and 2-diacylglycerol (2-AG) were characterized. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Studies of cannabinoid receptor 1 in mantle cell lymphoma

    Författare :Kristin Gustafsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a malignant B-cell lymphoma that affects older individuals and has a male predominance. MCL has one of the worst prognoses among lymphomas and currently there is a search for a curative therapy. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : It is frequently argued that cannabinoids exert part of their analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects via activation of the cannabinoid CB1 receptor located on TRPV1-expressing primary sensory nerve fibres in peripheral tissues. However, we find no evidence of CB1 receptor immunoreactivity on nerve fibres in rat or mouse hindpaw skin and mesenteric artery. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Molecular mechanisms underlying the actions of psychoactive drugs in the basal ganglia : focus on cannabinoids and morphine

    Författare :Anders Borgkvist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is centered on the identification of the molecular mechanisms involved in the psychomotor effects of cannabinoids and morphine. These drugs share the ability of acting at the level of the basal ganglia, a group of subcortical structures involved in the control of locomotion, as well as in cognitive and motivational aspects of motor function.
