  1. 1. Ecological aspects of antimicrobial susceptibility of anaerobic bacteria in Nicaragua

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Immunology, Microbiology, Pathology and Infectious Diseases

    Författare :Mercedes Cáceres; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [1999]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Antimicrobial susceptibility; normal flora; anaerobic infections; B-lactamase; enterotoxigenic B. fragilis;

    Sammanfattning : Anaerobic bacteria are the predominant constituents of the normal flora on the skin and the mucous membranes of the human body. They may also act as potent pathogens in a variety of endogenous infections. Antimicrobial resistance is an increasing problem with anaerobic and aerobic bacteria. Different mechanisms for such resistance are known. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Innate and acquired immunity to commensal bacteria

    Detta är en avhandling från Göteborg

    Författare :Christina Hessle; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2000]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The innate immune system recognises molecular patterns shared by large groups of micro-organisms. Monocytes and macrophages respond to microbes by production of substances which act in concert to promote effective clearance of bacteria. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Human intestinal epithelial cells in innate immunity interactions with normal microbiota and pathogenic bacteria

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Umeå universitet

    Författare :Gangwei Ou; Umeå universitet.; [2009]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Rod-shaped bacteria were previously shown to be associated with the small intestinal epithelium of children with celiac disease (CD). Using culture-dependent and independent methods, we characterized the microbiota of small intestine in children with CD and controls. The normal microbiota constitutes an unique organ-specific biofilm. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Hydrogen Production by Caldicellulosiruptor species: The Organism and the Metabolism

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Umeå universitet

    Författare :Ahmad Zeidan; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2011]
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Extreme thermophile; Caldicellulosiruptor; Biohydrogen; Co-culture; Coexistence; Hydrogen tolerance; Genome-scale reconstruction; In silico; Flux balance analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Hydrogen holds a great promise as an efficient and clean future energy carrier due to its high energy density and lack of pollutant generation. Anaerobic degradation of organic substrates by heterotrophic microorganisms enables the production of hydrogen from a wide spectrum of agricultural feedstock and waste products. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Hygiene aspects of the biogas process with emphasis on spore-forming bacteria

    Detta är en avhandling från ; Department of Biomedical Sciences and Veterinary Public Health, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences

    Författare :Elisabeth Bagge; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet.; [2009]
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Biogas is a renewable source of energy which can be obtained from processing of biowaste. The digested residues can be used as fertiliser. Biowaste intended for biogas production contains pathogenic micro-organisms. A pre-pasteurisation step at 70°C for 60 min before anaerobic digestion reduces non spore-forming bacteria such as Salmonella spp. LÄS MER
