  1. 1. Lower Limb Amputation in Patients with Vascular Disease

    Författare :Anton Johannesson; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; rehabilitation outcome; prosthetic; mortality; amputation; Incidence; limb;

    Sammanfattning : The current prevalence of persons amputated at transmetatarsal level or higher in Sweden can be estimated to be between 5000 and 5500 persons (approx. 0.06 % of the population). The majority of these are patients with vascular disease (≈ 80%). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Towards a tactile artifical hand

    Författare :Ulrika Wijk; Malmö Handkirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; amputation; upper limb; phantom hand map; sensory feedback; referred sensation; hand prosthesis; body ownership; tactile sensation;

    Sammanfattning : Amputation of a hand is a life-changing event, and the loss of motor and sensory functions leads to disability and has devastating effects on the individual. What is normally performed using two hands must be solved with only one, and the loss also affects body balance and body posture. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Amputation for vascular disease. Prognostic factors for healing, long-term outcome and costs

    Författare :Magnus Eneroth; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; costs; deep foot infections; supplementary nutrition; prognostic factors; outcome; diabetes mellitus; Amputation; vascular disease; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : General characteristics and outcome was evaluated in 177 consecutive patients who underwent a major amputation in a defined population. Smoking and diabetes lowered the mean amputation age. Healing failure at six months was seen in 24% of transtibial and in 11% of transfemoral amputees. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Functioning in prosthetic users provided with and without a microprocessor-controlled prosthetic knee – relative effects on mobility, self-efficacy and attentional demand

    Författare :Saffran Möller; Nerrolyn Ramstrand; Kerstin Hagberg; David Rusaw; Catharina Sjödahl Hammarlund; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; amputation; trans-femoral amputation; adaptive prosthetic knee; prosthetic limb; self-report; mobility; self-efficacy; attention; brain; gait; neuroimaging; functional near-infrared spectroscopy; cognitive load; brain activity;

    Sammanfattning : Background: To undergo a lower limb amputation is a traumatic experience affecting the individual on physical as well as psychological levels and often leading to limitations in a person´s daily life. Following an amputation individual often receive a prosthesis to address impairments in mobility and functioning. LÄS MER
