  1. 1. Regulation of Proton Coupled Electron Transfer from Amino Acids in Artificial Model Systems: A Mechanistic Study

    Författare :Martin Sjödin; Leif Hammarström; Jan Davidsson; G. Daniel Nocera; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; Proton Coupled Electron Transfer; Tyrosine; Tryptophan; Electron Transfer; Hydrogen bond; Photosystem II; Proton transfer; Radical protein; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Amino acid radicals are key redox intermediates in several natural enzymes including Cytochrome c peroxidase, DNA photolyase, ribonucletide reductase, cytochrome c oxidase and photosystem II. Electron transfer from amino acids is often coupled to deprotonation and this thesis concerns the coupling of electron transfer from tyrosine and tryptophan to trisbipyridineruthenium(III) with deprotonation in model complexes. 2. 2. Investigations of New Biomimetic Transamination Systems and Inclusion Complexation with Cyclodextrins

    Författare :Anders Hjelmencrantz; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stereochemis; bicyclooctanes.Transamination; complexation; cyclodextrins; proton transfer; hydride transfer; stereochemistry; Transamination; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Two new transamination systems are described. The first example is a dibenzo[a,d]- cycloheptene containing system, designed to accomplish a [1,3]-hydride transfer. Several catalysts have been examined for this purpose. tris-Pentafluorophenyl borane was found to be the most efficient catalyst. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Metabolic impact of certain dietary proteins and/or amino acids - Glycaemic and hormonal responses to carbohydrate meals in healthy subject

    Författare :Ulrika Gunnerud; Avdelningen för livsmedel och läkemedel; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Amino acids; dietary protein; glycaemic regulation; insulin; incretins;

    Sammanfattning : Re-occurring hyperglycaemic episodes promote subclinical low-grade inflammation and CVD in type 2 diabetes, emphasising the therapeutic role of tight blood glucose regulation. A tight blood glucose regulation is probably beneficial also in healthy subjects and mild elevations in postprandial glycaemia and triglycerides are associated with impaired flow-mediated dilation and increased markers of oxidative stress in young healthy subjects. 4. 4. POLYPEPTIDES - STRUCTURES AND INTERACTIONS IN MONOLAYERS AND AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS

    Författare :Helen Sjögren; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; tyrosine ; co-poly-L lysine; phenylalanine ; co-poly-L- lysine; poly-L-glutamate; poly-L-lysine; poly-L-valine; poly-L-isoleucine; poly-gamma-methyl-L-glutamate; poly-L-leucine; monolayer; Langmuir-Blodgett film; CD spectroscopy; random coil; alpha-helix; surfactant stabilisation; polypeptide; polyamino acid;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis work is to understand and be able to control polypeptide conformation and interactions at interfaces and in solution by changing the solution conditions. For this purpose simple model polypeptides, so-called polyamino acids, have been investigated at the air-liquid interface, as well as in aqueous solutions. LÄS MER

  5. 5. NMR Studies of Bacterial Albumin-Binding Modules

    Författare :Maria U Johansson; Biofysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysikalisk kemi; Biotechnology; Bioteknik; Proteins; enzymology; Proteiner; enzymologi; Physical chemistry; three-helix bundle; protein structure; protein PAB; protein-protein interactions; protein G; protein dynamics; NMR; module shuffling; GA module; evolution; albumin-binding; bacterial surface proteins;

    Sammanfattning : Peptostreptococcus magnus and group C/G streptococci are Gram-positive cocci that are part of the normal flora and reside in more or less the same locations in the host. Protein G of group C/G streptococci was originally described as binding IgGFc of several species and later shown to also bind human serum albumin and albumins from various animal species. LÄS MER
