  1. 11. Synthesis of aromatic bis- and tris(amino acids) and chiral dendrimers

    Författare :Andreas Ritzén; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organisk kemi; Organic chemistry; HWE reaction; asymmetric hydrogenation; Heck reaction; Amino acids; chiral dendrimers;

    Sammanfattning : A number of protected aromatic bis- and tris(amino acids) have been synthesised by catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation of the corresponding didehydroamino acid derivatives. The didehydroamino acid derivatives were prepared either by a Heck coupling of a 2-amidoacrylate with an aryl dihalide, or by Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons olefination of aromatic aldehydes with phosphonylglycine reagents. 2. 12. Characterization of Amino Acid Transporters in the Brain : Molecular and Functional Studies of Members within the Solute Carrier Families SLC38 and SLC6

    Författare :Maria Hägglund; Robert Fredriksson; Farrukh Chaudhry; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Amino acid transporter; Solute Carrier; Glutamine; Leucine; SNAT; B0AT; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Solute carriers (SLCs) comprise the largest group of transporters in humans and there are currently 52 SLC families. They are embedded in cellular membranes and transport numerous molecules; defects in many of the genes encoding SLCs have been connected to pathological conditions, and several SLCs are potential drug targets. 3. 13. A Regio- and Stereodivergent Route to All Isomers of vic-Amino Alcohols

    Författare :Berit Olofsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :amino alcohols; vinylepoxides; vinylaziridines; oxazolines; oxazolidinones; ring-opening; regioselective; diastereoselective; sphingosine; configuration; NMR spectroscopy;

    Sammanfattning : The first part of this thesis describes a synthetic strategythat provides all eight possible isomers of a given vic-aminoalcohol starting from vinylepoxides. The value of a generalroute is evident, as several isomers are needed ininvestigations of structure-activity relationships forpharmacologically active derivatives, and for optimizing theperformance of chiral ligands containing the amino alcoholmoiety. 4. 14. Development and application of new chiral -amino alcohols in synthesis and catalysis : Use of 2-azanorboryl-3-methanols as common intermediates in synthesis and catalysis

    Författare :Pedro Pinho; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Asymmetric synthesis; hetero-Diels-Alder reactions; chiral cyclopentyl-amines; chiral ligands and catalysts; amino alcohols; asymmetric reductions; ruthenium transfer hydrogenation; oxazaborolidines; asymmetric additions; dialkylzinc reagents; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The development and application of unnatural amino alcohols,prepared via hetero-Diels-Alder reactions,in synthesis and catalysis is described.The studies are concerned with the [i]scope of the hetero-Diels-Alder reaction and preparation of important intermediates in the synthesis of antiviral agents,[ii ]application of amino alcohols in the ruthenium transfer hydrogenation of ketones,[iii ]use of similar precursors in the in situ generation of oxazaborolidines for reduction of ketones,and [iv] development and application of new chiral auxiliaries for dialkylzinc additions to activated imines, respectively. 5. 15. Palaeodiet and Infant Feeding in Coastal Arctic Settlements : Insights from stable isotope analysis of bone and dentine collagen and amino acids

    Författare :Alison Harris; Gunilla Eriksson; Kerstin Lidén; Michelle Alexander; Tamsin O'Connell; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Arctic; palaeodiet; Inuit; Yup’ik; infant feeding; domestic dogs; amino acids; collagen; stable isotopes; maintenance activities; gender; arkeologi med inriktning mot laborativ arkeologi; Scientific Archaeology;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation investigates the day-to-day activities that sustained human societies in the arctic and subarctic environments of North America and Siberia over the past 1500 years. Maintenance activities, such as food preparation, childcare, and the care of domestic animals, are commonly inflected by social identity and can provide insight into the experience of gender among archaeological and historical populations.
