11. Cooking up model structures on ind- and pro-categories
Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis consists of three papers related to model structures on ind- and pro-categories.In Paper I a general method for constructing simplicial model structures on ind- and pro-categories is described. This method is particularly useful for constructing ``profinite'' analogues of known model categories. LÄS MER
12. Early events in disease associated protein misfolding
Sammanfattning : The scope of this thesis is to unravel some of the mysteries concerning events takingplace early in the amyloid cascade. In vitro studies of early misfolded states ofamyloidogenic proteins are important since the use of recombinant proteins allow us to monitor slight changes in environmental conditions as well as in amino acid composition and thereby illuminate the problem at near atomic resolution. 13. Model categories, pro-categories and functors
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of five papers. The first three are concerned with various model structures on ind- and pro-categories, while the last two are concerned with the homotopy theory of functors. In Paper I, a general method for constructing simplicial model structures on ind- and pro-categories is described and its basic properties are studied. 14. Influence of defects and impurities on the properties of 2D materials
Sammanfattning : Graphene, the thinnest material with a stable 2D structure, is a potential alternative for silicon-based electronics. However, zero band gap of graphene causes a poor on-off ratio of current thus making it unsuitable for logic operations. This problem prompted scientists to find other suitable 2D materials. LÄS MER
15. Competing Under Pressure : State Anxiety, Sports Performance and Assessment
Sammanfattning : Elevated levels of anxiety are a common response to stressful competitive sports situations, are known to moderate athletic performance and are referred to as an unpleasant emotional state associated with perceptions of situational threat. The empirical studies in this dissertation considered primarily psychometric, methodological and conceptual issues of relevance for the study of anxiety and sports performance. LÄS MER
