1. Asymmetric [2,3]-Sigmatropic Rearrangement of Allylic Ammonium Ylides
Sammanfattning : The thesis describes the realization of an asymmetric [2,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement of achiral allylic amines. It is divided into two parts; the first part deals with the development of a Lewis acid-mediated [2,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement and the second the asymmetric version thereof. LÄS MER
2. Development of New Chiral Bicyclic Ligands : Applications in Catalytic Asymmetric Transfer Hydrogenation, Epoxidations, and Epoxide Rearrangements
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the synthesis and application of new chiral bicyclic ligands and their application in asymmetric catalysis. The studies involved: [i] The development of novel chiral bicyclic amino sulfur ligands and their use in transfer hydrogenation. LÄS MER
3. Design and Synthesis of Amine Building Blocks and Protease Inhibitors
Sammanfattning : The first part of this thesis addresses the design and synthesis of amine building blocks accomplished by applying two different synthetic procedures, both of which were developed using solid-phase chemistry. Chapter 1 presents the first of these methods, entailing a practical solid-phase parallel synthesis route to N-monoalkylated aminopiperidines and aminopyrrolidines achieved by selective reductive alkylation of primary and/or secondary amines. 4. Asymmetric Formation and Isomerization of Three-Membered Rings : Catalyst Development and Evaluation
Sammanfattning : Enantiopure α-amino acid derivatives were prepared using a protocol which allows for highly controlled regio- and chemoselectivity in the hydrogenation/ hydrogenolysis of aza-Diels-Alder adducts. One of the resulting α-amino esters, (1S,3R,4R)-2-azabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane-3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester, was utilized further as a catalyst precursor. LÄS MER
5. Self-adaptable catalysts : Importance of flexibility and applications in asymmetric catalysis
Sammanfattning : The topic of this thesis is the design and synthesis of biaryl-based self adaptableligands for asymmetric metal catalysis. The results discussed in papers I-III are covered, together with some unpublished results concerning substrate-adaptable catalysts. A general survey of self-adaptable catalysts is presented first.
