2. A tailored biocompatible neural interface for long term monitoring in neural networks
Sammanfattning : Neural interface electrodes that can record from neurons in the brain for long periods of time will be of great importance to unravel how the brain accomplishes its functions. However, current electrodes usually cause significant glia reactions and loss of neurons within the adjacent brain parenchyma. LÄS MER
3. Development of Substance P 1–7 Related Peptides and Peptidomimetics : Targeting Neuropathic Pain
Sammanfattning : The neuropeptide substance P 1–7 (SP1–7, H-Arg1-Pro2-Lys3-Pro4-Gln5-Gln6-Phe7-OH) and its amidated analogue SP1–7 amide, have displayed intriguing effects in experimental models for neuropathic pain acting on a specific, yet unknown SP1–7 target. The aim of this thesis was to design and synthesise SP1–7 related peptides and peptidomimetics, to be used as research tools to study the SP1–7 system, and to serve as drug leads in the neuropathic pain area. 4. Dynamic mechanical allodynia in peripheral neuropathic pain : psychological observations
Sammanfattning : Introduction and aim: Pain due to a light moving mechanical stimulus, dynamic mechanical allodynia, is a protruding symptom/sign in subgroups of patients with peripheral neuropathic pain and frequently as troublesome as spontaneous ongoing pain. The objective of this thesis was to survey psychophysical details of dynamic mechanical allodynia using a novel semi-quantitative method. LÄS MER
5. Experimental tooth clenching : a model for studying mechanisms of muscle pain
