  1. 11. Retinoids and vitamin D in skin and parathyroid glands

    Författare :Liu Wei; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; all-trans retinoic acid 9-cis retinoic acid vitamin A. vitamin D. CRBP. CRABP. RAR. RXR. parathyroid hormone. calcium receptor; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Vitamin D3 (VitD3) and retinoids are important factors involved in differentiation and proliferation in many cell systems. Their effects in skin, where retinoids and vitamin D are known to be crucially involved in keratinocyte differentiation and function,, and in the parathyroid, the overall regulatory organ in calcium homeostasis were studied. 2. 12. In vitro Studies of Genodermatoses Affecting Cytoskeletal Integrity and Lipid Processing in Human Epidermis : Pathogenic Mechanisms and Effects of Retinoid Therapy

    Författare :Hao Li; Hans Törmä; Anders Vahlquist; Mikael Ivarsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Congenital Ichthyosiform Erythroderma; Epidermolytic Hyperkeratosis; Ceramides; Keratins; Retinoids; Molecular Probe Techniques; Transglutaminases; Lipoxygenases; Fatty Acid Transporter Proteins; Keratinocytes; Epidermis; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Autosomal dominant epidermolytic ichthyosis (EI) is a rare disease characterized by intra-epidermal blistering due to mutations in either of two keratin genes, KRT1 and KRT10, expressed by suprabasal keratinocytes. Autosomal recessive congenital ichthyosis (ARCI) is a non-blistering, hyperkeratotic disease caused by mutations in one of the following genes: ABCA12, ALOX12B, ALOXE3, TGM1, CYP4F22, NIPAL4 and SLC27A4, which are all essential for skin barrier homeostasis. 3. 13. Disruption of vitamin A metabolism by dioxin

    Författare :Pi Högberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :TCDD; dioxin; vitamin A; retinoic acid; cellular retinol-binding protein; bone;

    Sammanfattning : Vitamin A (retinoids) is a nutrient that plays a central role in development and remains essential for cell growth and differentiation throughout life. Dioxins are polychlorinated organic pollutants known to negatively affect the storage and body clearance of retinoids. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Cellular immunity and inflammation in atherosclerosis

    Författare :Dirk Marcus Wuttge; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Atherosclerosis; T cell; oxLDL; malondialdehyde; hapten; posttranslational; interleukin-] 5; retinoic acid receptor; inflammation;

    Sammanfattning : Atherosclerosis, the major cause of death and disability in western countries, is nowadays recognized as an inflammatory disease. Low density lipoprotein (LDL), the major carrier of cholesterol in plasma, is trapped in the subendothelial space, where compounds inside of LDL are chemically modified through lipid peroxidation. 5. 15. On retinoid receptors, Nurr1 and related transcription factors in the CNS

    Författare :Rolf H Zetterström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Nurr1; NGFI-B; Nor1; RAR; RXR; CRBP; CRABP; substantia nigra; basal ganglia; dopamine; orphan receptor; vitamin A; retinoic acid; transcription factor;

    Sammanfattning : It has long been known that retinoids (vitamin A derivatives) are required for normal development and growth; in excess however metabolites such as all-trans retinoic acid are potent teratogens. Retinoids exert their effects through transcription factors known as the retinoic acid receptors (RARam -ß and -y) and retinoid X receptors (RXRa, -ß and -y). LÄS MER
