  1. 1. Autoantibodies and genetic variation in rheumatoid arthritis : aspects on susceptibility and disease course

    Författare :Alf Kastbom; Thomas Skogh; Peter Söderkvist; Alex Karlsson-Parra; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rheumatoid arthritis; autoantibodies; single-nucleotide polymorphisms; disease course; Rheumatology; Reumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease characterized by chronic inflammation and subsequent destruction of synovial joints. Although its causes remain largely unknown, a substantial genetic contribution is known to exist. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Systemic and local regulation of experimental arthritis by IFN-α, dendritic cells and uridine

    Författare :Sudeep Chenna Narendra; Mattias Magnusson; Srinivas Uppugunduri; Alf Kastbom; Natacha Bessis; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we have studied the immunological processes of joint inflammation that may be targets for future treatment of patients with arthritis. We focus on the immune-modulating properties of interferon-α (IFN-α) and uridine in experimental arthritis. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Fc receptors and immunoglobulins in polyarthritis : A matter of function, supply and demand?

    Författare :Peter Matt; Ulla Lindqvist; Sandra Kleinau; Alf Kastbom; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Fc receptors (FcR) and immunoglobulins (Ig) play important roles in the defence against pathogens. However, altered interactions of these may promote chronic inflammation in rheumatic diseases. An excess of Igs forming immune complexes (IC) could lead to continuous FcR activation and spreading of autoimmune inflammation to other tissues. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Secretory Autoantibodies in Rheumatoid Arthritis

    Författare :Karin Roos Ljungberg; Alf Kastbom; Anna Svärd; Klara Martinsson; Jonas Wetterö; Per-Johan Jakobsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rheumatoid arthritis; Secretory autoantibodies; Immunoglobulins; Anti-citrullinated protein antibodies; ACPA; Mucosal immunity;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease in which autoantibodies, such as anti-citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPA), can be detected in the serum of patients. Autoantibodies may appear in the circulation years before clinical signs of joint inflammation occur, indicating that early immunological pathogenetic steps take place outside of the joints. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Circulating and Mucosal Antibodies to Citrullinated Antigens in Rheumatoid Arthritis

    Författare :Anna Svärd; Thomas Skogh; Alf Kastbom; Carl Turesson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease characterized by joint inflammation and subsequent destruction of cartilage and bone. The etiology is largely unknown, although genetic as well as environmental factors are involved. The manifestations and consequences of RA differ between individuals. LÄS MER
