6. Road profile statistics relevant for vehicle fatigue
Sammanfattning : Road profiles are studied from a vehicle fatigue point of view. A wide range of roads have been measured: from smooth motorways to very rough gravel roads. It is observed that the road profiles consist of irregular sections, which makes the stationary Gaussian model unsuitable (Paper A). LÄS MER
7. Statistical Physics of Protein Folding and Aggregation
Sammanfattning : The mechanisms of protein folding and aggregation are investigated by computer simulations of all-atom and reduced models with sequence-based potentials. A quasi local Monte Carlo update is developed in order to efficiently sample proteins in the folded phase. LÄS MER
8. Topics in multifractal measures, nonparametrics and biostatistics
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of four papers. The first two papers, which comprise the main part of the thesis, deal with an unexpected connection between kernel density estimators and dimension spectra for multifractal measures. LÄS MER
9. Full Cycle Engine Simulations with Detailed Chemistry
Sammanfattning : The modeling work developed in this thesis can be divided in two main areas of investigations: autoignition related to spark ignition engine and combustion and emissions formation in relation to diesel engines. A first version of a detailed kinetics engine simulation program, extended to handle full cycle calculations, was employed in order to demonstrate the strong effect that nitric oxide from the residual gas has on the autoignition onset. 10. Statistical modelling in chemistry - applications to nuclear magnetic resonance and polymerase chain reaction
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of two parts with the common theme of statistical modelling in chemistry. The first part is concerned with applications in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, while the second part deals with applications in polymerase chain reaction (PCR). LÄS MER
