  1. 1. Air-Sea Fluxes of CO2 : Analysis Methods and Impact on Carbon Budget

    Författare :Maria Norman; Anna Rutgersson; Erik Sahlée; William Drennan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; air-sea exchange; carbon dioxide; Baltic Sea; eddy-covariance method; inertial dissipation method; cospectral-peak method; Baltic Sea measurements; CO2 fluxes; Galathea 3 expedition; Baltic Sea modeling; water-side convection; coastal upwelling; carbon budget; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : Carbon dioxide (CO2) is an important greenhouse gas, and the atmospheric concentration of CO2 has increased by more than 100 ppm since prior to the industrial revolution.  The global oceans are considered an important sink of atmospheric CO2, since approximately one third of the anthropogenic emissions are absorbed by the oceans. 2. 2. Air-sea exchange of O2 and CO2 : Processes controlling the transfer efficiency

    Författare :Andreas Andersson; Anna Rutgersson; Brian Ward; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; air-sea flux; oxygen; transfer velocity; water-side convection; Arctic; UVCN; Meteorologi; Meteorology;

    Sammanfattning : World oceans cover more than 70% of the earth surface and constitutes a major sink of atmospheric CO2. Two of the most important gases in the marine carbon cycling are O2 and CO2 and hence accurate descriptions of the air-sea gas exchange of these gases are crucial. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Mechanisms controlling air-sea gas exchange in the Baltic Sea

    Författare :Lucía Gutiérrez-Loza; Anna Rutgersson; Erik Sahlée; Marcus Wallin; John Prytherch; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Air-sea gas exchange; Baltic Sea; CO2 flux; methane flux;

    Sammanfattning : Carbon plays a major role in physical and biogeochemical processes in the atmosphere, the biosphere, and the ocean. CO2 and CH4 are two of the most common carbon-containing compounds in the atmosphere, also recognized as major greenhouse gases. LÄS MER

  4. 4. On mechanisms controlling air-sea gas exchange

    Författare :Lucía Gutiérrez-Loza; Anna Rutgersson; Erik Sahlée; Marcus B. Wallin; Tom Bell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Air-sea gas exchange; eddy covariance; gas transfer velocity; Baltic Sea; Meteorologi; Meteorology;

    Sammanfattning : Carbon is essential to the Earth’s system functioning, playing a major role in physical and biogeochemical processes in the atmosphere, the terrestrial biosphere, and the oceans. The concentration of carbon-based greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4), has been increasing since the industrial era. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Implementation and Analysis of Air-Sea Exchange Processes in Atmosphere and Ocean Modelling

    Författare :Björn Carlsson; Anna Rutgersson; Ann-Sofi Smedman; Öyvind Saetra; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sensible heat flux; Latent heat flux; Momentum flux; Wind stress; Marine boundary layer; Air–Sea interaction; Swell; Climate model; Ocean model; Roughness parameter; Drag coefficient; Wave breaking; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : To understand and to predict the weather and climate, numerical models are important tools and it is crucial that the controlling processes are described correctly. Since 70% of the global surface is covered with water the description how the ocean and atmosphere communicates has a considerable impact. LÄS MER
