  1. 1. From Antagonism to Alienation : Redirecting Radical Democracy

    Författare :Sofia Helander; Sofia Näsström; Bo Bengtsson; Alexandra Segerberg; Mikael Carleheden; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; political theory; social theory; democratic theory; critical theory; radical democracy; agonistic democracy; alienation; precarity; Statskunskap; Political Science;

    Sammanfattning : How can democratic theory address contemporary problems of alienation? Today, alienation manifests itself primarily in processes of precarization and deprofessionalization. When the subject’s work security or professional autonomy is undermined, her relations – not only to others, but also to herself – can become inhibited. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The Art of Making Democratic Trouble : Four Art Events and Radical Democratic Theory

    Författare :Elín Hafsteinsdóttir; Cecilia Åse; Charlotte Fridolfsson; Jenny Gunnarsson Payne; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; radical democracy; art; event; space of conflict; agonistic democracy; discourse theory; post-structuralist theory; Chantal Mouffe; Aletta Norval; Sweden; the Netherlands; democratic subjectivity; political subject; politicization; statsvetenskap; Political Science;

    Sammanfattning : Heated debates and strong emotions occasionally arise in the public sphere in the wake of an art object. The interaction that follows becomes part of what we as citizens share in a democracy, with its particular conditions of political speech and democratic exchange. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Radical democracy redux : politics and subjectivity beyond Habermas and Mouffe

    Författare :Katarzyna Jezierska; Mats Lindberg; Mikael Carleheden; Aletta Norval; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; radicaldemocracy; JürgenHabermas; ChantalMouffe; deliberative; agonistic; consensus; conflict; antagonism; agonism; subjectivity; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; Political science; Statsvetenskap; Political Science; Statskunskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates two contemporary theories of radical democracy, Jürgen Habermas’s deliberative and Chantal Mouffe’s agonistic democracy. By bringing the two scholars together and constructing a debate between them, their respective strengths and weaknesses are highlighted and the similarities and differences are pointed out. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Demanding Certainty : A Critical Examination of Swedish Spatial Planning for Safety

    Författare :Lina Berglund Snodgrass; Karl Bergman; Ylva Stubbergaard; Mattias Kärrholm; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; safety; fear; public life; spatial planning; Sweden; agonistic theory; knowledge; gender; trygghet; rädsla; offentligt liv; fysisk planering; Sverige; agonistisk teori; kunskap; genus;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation constitutes a critical examination of Swedish spatial planning for safety. Spatial planning for safety rests on a number of assumptions about the desired order of the world. These assumptions appear as given and unproblematic, making the formulation of alternatives appear unnecessary. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Design and synthesis of -turn peptidomimetics : Applications to angiotensin II

    Författare :Susanna Lindman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical chemistry; peptide synthesis; turn mimetics; molecular modelling; receptor binding affinity; Farmaceutisk kemi; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Organic Pharmaceutical Chemistry; organisk farmaceutisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : This study addresses the issue of how to convert peptides into drug-like non-peptides while retaining the biological activity at peptide receptors. Angiotensin II (Asp-Arg-Val-Tyr-Ile-His-Pro-Phe, Ang II) was used as a model peptide. Small bioactive peptides are in most cases conformationally flexible molecules. LÄS MER
