  1. 1. Aerosol-Cloud-Precipitation Interactions - Studied using combinations of remote sensing and in-situ data

    Författare :Moa Sporre; Ergonomi och aerosolteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; clouds; aerosol particles; climate; precipitation; satellite data; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Sporre;

    Sammanfattning : Cloud droplets never form in the atmosphere without a seed in the form of an aerosol particle. Changes in number concentrations of aerosol particles in the atmosphere can therefore affect the number of droplets in a cloud. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Primary Marine Aerosol : Validation of sea spray source functions using observations and transport modeling

    Författare :Henrik Grythe; Johan Ström; Krejci Radovan; Bo Gustafsson; Lars Ahlm; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; marine aerosol; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Sea spray aerosols (SSA) are an important part of the climate system through their effects on the global radiative budget, both directly as scatterers and absorbers of solar and terrestrial radiation, and indirectly as cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) influencing cloud formation, lifetime and precipitation. In terms of their global mass, SSA is the largest source and has the largest uncertainty of all aerosols. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Today, the growing and aging population, and the rise of new global threats on human health puts an increasing demand on the healthcare system and calls for preventive actions. To make existing medical treatments more efficient and widely accessible and to prevent the emergence of new threats such as drug-resistant bacteria, improved diagnostic technologies are needed. 4. 4. On the lifecycle of aerosol particles : Sources and dispersion over Scandinavia

    Författare :Peter Tunved; Hans-Christen Hansson; Johan Ström; Douglas Nilsson; Urs Baltensperger; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aerosols; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : Aerosol particles are likely important contributors to our future climate. Further, during recent years, effects on human health arising from emissions of particulate material have gained increasing attention. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Mechanisms for the Influence from Ice Nucleus Aerosols on Clouds and their Indirect Effects: Cloud Modelling

    Författare :Deepak Waman; MERGE: ModElling the Regional and Global Earth system; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; clouds; Radiation; Ice Nuclei; Primary Biological Aerosol Particles; Ice particles; Secondary ice; primary ice; Aerosol particles; thunderstorm;

    Sammanfattning : The role of multiple groups of primary biological aerosol particles (PBAPs) as ice nucleating particles (INPs), and of ice formation processes such as time-dependent freezing of various INPs, and various secondary ice production(SIP) mechanisms in overall ice concentration has been evaluated in a range of cloud systems by simulating them numerically with the state-of-the-art ‘Aerosol-Cloud’ (AC) model in a 3D mesoscale domain. Also, the mechanismsof aerosol indirect effects (AIEs) arising from anthropogenic INPs, and the responses to these AIEs from time-dependent INP freezing and SIP processes are investigated in the simulated clouds.
