6. Nanofiber networks, aerogels and biocomposites based on nanofibrillated cellulose from wood
Sammanfattning : Nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) from wood is an interesting material constituent of high strength and high aspect ratio, which easily forms networks through interfibril secondary bonding including hydrogen bonds. This has been exploited in preparation of new materials, which extend the range of properties for existing cellulosic materials. LÄS MER
7. Novel Thermal Insulation in Future Building and District Heating Applications - Hygrothermal Measurements and Analysis
Sammanfattning : The interest for reducing the energy consumption in society has increased during the last decades due to an increased environmental awareness. One way to decrease the energy losses in the building sector is to improve the thermal insulation of building envelopes and installations and thereby decrease the heat losses. LÄS MER
8. A scalable furnace technique to grow silicon nanoparticles for high-performance Li-ion battery anodes
Sammanfattning : Lithium-ion batteries are one of the key technologies to address the global climate challenge. Higher battery capacity could also be seen as indirectly influencing the entire value chain. One way to increase capacity is to add silicon to the graphite anode, since silicon can store much more lithium ions than graphite. LÄS MER
9. Chemical Modification of Nanostructured Wood for Functional Biocomposites
Sammanfattning : Recently emerged top-down processing concept has provided new insights into the chemical modification of wood at the nanoscale. Nanostructured wood with naturally aligned cellulose microfibrils, cell wall nanoporosity, and precisely tuned chemical composition has opened up numerous possibilities for advanced design of functional materials. 10. Porous Cellulose Materials from Nano Fibrillated Cellulose
Sammanfattning : In the first part of this work a novel type of low-density, sponge-like material for the separation of mixtures of oil and water has been prepared by vapour deposition of hydrophobic silanes on ultra-porous nanocellulose aerogels. To achieve this, a highly porous (> 99 %) nanocellulose aerogel with high structural flexibility and robustness is first formed by freeze-drying an aqueous dispersion of the nanocellulose. LÄS MER
