1. Evolution of Yeast Respiro-Fermentative Lifestyle and the Underlying Mechanisms Behind Aerobic Fermentation
Sammanfattning : Under aerobic conditions, most yeasts such as Kluyveromyces lactis, prefer the respiratory pathway and some, such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae prefer less energy efficient fermentative pathway for their energy metabolism. These two metabolic strategies are also known as Crabtree negative and Crabtree positive respectively, and the evolution of the latter has lately been explained by the “make-accumulate-consume” life strategy. 2. Fysisk aktivitet, inaktivitet och kapacitet hos gymnasieungdomar
Sammanfattning : A change in behaviour with reduced physical activity and an increased sedentary behaviour among children and adolescents may be a threat to their future health. The literature shows that physical activity decreases through adolescence and the habits from childhood and adolescence have a tendency to become manifest. LÄS MER
3. Assessment of Aerobic Capacity A Novel Rating Scale and Further Development of an Exercise Test including Analysis of Gas Exchange
Sammanfattning : Different methods are proposed to assess the aerobic capacity. A novel scale, rating of perceived capacity (RPC) based on metabolic equivalents (METs) from 1 to 20, is presented. Selected MET values are linked to physical activities. LÄS MER
4. Bioelectronic Devices for Targeted Drug Delivery and Monitoring of Microbial Electrogenesis
Sammanfattning : Despite a range of pain therapies available in the market, 70% of patients report so-called “breakthrough pain”. Coupled with global issues like opioid crisis, there is a clear need for advanced therapies and technologies for pain management. LÄS MER
5. Search for molecular and metabolic mechanisms contributing to impaired β-cell function
Sammanfattning : Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) prevalence is growing to pandemic proportions worldwide. The link between genotype, environment and β-cell function is still being investigated. LÄS MER
