  1. 1. CFD of Duct Acoustics for Turbocharger Applications

    Författare :Emma Alenius; Mats Åbom; Laszlo Fuchs; Federico Piscaglia; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aero acoustics; Large Eddy Simulation; IC-engines; 1D models; turbocharger; orifice plate; Acoustics; Akustik; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Sammanfattning : The search for quieter internal combustion engines drives the quest for a better understanding of the acoustic properties of engine duct components. In this work the main focus is the turbocharger compressor and a discussion of turbocharger acoustics and earlier work within the area is presented, giving an insight into its sound generating mechanisms and the damping effect it has on pressure pulses, i. 2. 2. Flow Duct Acoustics : An LES Approach

    Författare :Emma Alenius; Mats Åbom; Laszlo Fuchs; Oliver Paschereit; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aero-acoustics; duct-acoustics; sound generation; acoustic scattering; acoustic-flow interaction; LES; IC-engines; orifice plate; confined jet;

    Sammanfattning : The search for quieter internal combustion engines drives the quest for a better understanding of the acoustic properties of engine duct components. Simulations are an important tool for enhanced understanding; they give insight into the flow-acoustic interaction in components where it is difficult to perform measurements. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Assessing precision and accuracy in acoustic scattering matrix measurements

    Författare :Luck Peerlings; Hans Bodén; Susann Boij; Avraham Hirschberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aero-acoustics; sudden area expansion; in-duct acoustics; acoustic scattering matrix; impedance tube; uncertainty analysis; systematic errors; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Acoustic scattering matrices are used to characterize the influence of inline duct elements on the acoustic wave propagation in wave guides.When measuring the properties of these matrices, errors are always present in the results and need to be characterized to make valid statements on the correspondence between model predictions and measurements. 5. 5. A Study of Mach 0.75 Jets and Their Radiated Sound Using Large-Eddy Simulation

    Författare :Niklas Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Jet noise; CAA; LES; Large Eddy Simulation; Computational Aero-Acoustics;

    Sammanfattning : Large-Eddy Simulations (LES) of a compressible nozzle/jet configuration have been carried out. Two jets were simulated, an isothermal jet and a jet with a higher temperature than the surrounding air. The Mach number was in both cases 0.75 and the jet Reynolds number was 50,000. LÄS MER
