  1. 1. Adsorption, desorption, and redox reactions at iron oxide nanoparticle surfaces

    Författare :Lelde Krumina; MEMEG; []
    Nyckelord :Ferrihydrite; Goethite; Secondary metabolites; Reductive dissolution; Catalytic oxidation; hydroxyl radicals; Fenton reaction; SOM decomposition;

    Sammanfattning : Iron oxide nanoparticles are involved in several important biogeochemical processes. The interfaces between aqueous solutions and iron oxide nanoparticle surfaces are found everywhere in nature, and the chemical and microbial processes occurring at these complex interfaces control e.g. nutrient and contaminant availability and transport. 2. 2. Iron and aluminium speciation in Swedish freshwaters : Implications for geochemical modelling

    Författare :Carin Sjöstedt; Jon Petter Gustafsson; Peggy O'Day; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geochemical equilibrium modelling; pH; adsorption to ferrihydrite; metal-NOM complexation; liming; EXAFS spectroscopy;

    Sammanfattning : Speciation governs transport and toxicity of trace metals and is important to monitor in natural waters. Geochemical models that predict speciation are valuable tools for monitoring. They can be used for risk assessments and future scenarios such as termination of liming. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Arsenic (V) adsorption on iron oxide : implications for soil remedeation and water purification

    Författare :Ivan Carabante; Ingmar Persson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical Technology; Kemisk teknologi;

    Sammanfattning : Addition of iron oxide based adsorbents to arsenic contaminated soils has been proposed as a mean to reduce the mobility of arsenic in the soil. However, the conditions in the soil such as pH value, the presence of phosphate after addition of fertilizer to the soil or the presence of Zn (II) as a co-contaminant may affect the adsorption of arsenate on the iron oxide and may therefore have implications for the mobility of arsenic in the remediated soil. 4. 4. Vanadium in soils : chemistry and ecotoxicity

    Författare :Maja Larsson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Vanadium is a redox-sensitive metal that is released to soils by weathering and anthropogenic emissions. Swedish metallurgical slags are naturally high in vanadium and used as soil amendments and in road materials. However, understanding of vanadium chemistry and bioavailability in soils is limited. 5. 5. Applications of the DGT technique for measurements of anions and cations in natural waters

    Författare :Helene Österlund; Per Andersson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Sammanfattning : Since the toxicity and mobility of trace metals are related to the metals' speciation, robust methods for trace metal speciation analysis are of great interest. During the last 15 years, hundreds of scientific articles have been published on the development and applications of the diffusive gradients in thin films (DGT) passive sampling technique. LÄS MER
