    Sammanfattning : The environmental pollutant 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) induces thymus atrophy and immunosuppression in all animal species examined and these effects constitute a potential risk to humans. TCDD can via binding to the intracellular aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR), modulate transcription of a number of genes and the aim of this thesis has been to identify such genes, which may explain the mechanisms behind TCDD-mediated immunotoxicity. 2. 2. Structural and Functional Studies of Gelsolin Family Proteins

    Författare :Qing Ma; Robert Robinson; Roger Karlsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Structural biology; Strukturbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The actin cytoskeleton is a complex structure that performs a wide range of cellular functions including: cell locomotion, cytokinesis, chemotaxis, signal transduction and apoptosis. The coordinated assembly and disassembly of actin filaments is controlled by a multitude of proteins (ABPs) in the cell. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The Structural Basis of the Control of Actin Dynamics by the Gelsolin Superfamily Proteins

    Författare :Sakesit Chumnarnsilpa; Robert Robinson; Lars Backman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Rearrangement of the actin cytoskeleton occurs in a variety of cellular processes and structures and involves a wide spectrum of proteins. Among these, the gelsolin superfamily proteins (GSPs) control actin organization by severing filaments, capping filament ends and bundling filaments. LÄS MER
