  1. 21. The influence of gender and depression on drug utilization : Pharmacoepidemiological research in Sweden

    Författare :Lena Thunander Sundbom; Göran Frenning; Kerstin Hedborg; Susanna Wallerstedt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adherence; anxiety; depression; drug utilization; gender; pharmacoepidemiology; prescription drugs; self-report; Farmakoepidemiologi; Pharmacoepidemiology; Health-Promoting Work;

    Sammanfattning : Background Drug use has increased over recent decades, and is especially great among women and among people with mental health problems. To take advantage of the full potential of drugs and to avoid drug-related problems, drug prescription needs to be correct and the drugs need to be taken according to the prescribed regimens.     Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; women s health; epidemiology; drug utilisation; adherence; symptom prevalence; HRT; Family medicine; Allmänmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Objectives. To study medication utilization and adherence to prescribed therapy in a female population in central Sweden. To study usage of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in this population and to assess how HRT users compare to non-users regarding symptom reporting, general health and other variables. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Aspects on long-term treatment with tyrosine kinase inhibitors in Chronic myeloid leukemia

    Författare :Sofia Jönsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Chronic myeloid leukemia; tyrosine kinase inhibitor; imatinib; molecular response; adherence; mesechymal stem cells; osteoblast differentiation; dasatinib;

    Sammanfattning : Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is caused by the tyrosine kinase activity of the oncoprotein BCR-ABL. The introduction of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) targeting BCR-ABL has profoundly changed the prognosis of CML. Currently, there are three TKIs approved for treatment of CML, imatinib, nilotinib and dasatinib. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Interplay between bacteria and host epithelial cells

    Författare :Lisa Maudsdotter; Ann-Beth Jonsson; Cindy Grove Arvidson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microbial-cell interaction; Adherence; Infection; Lactic acid bacteria; Antimicrobial peptides; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Bacterial pathogens have developed multiple ways of manipulating host cell functions to exploit the host environment. We found that interactions with epithelial cells increase the resistance of the human pathogen Neisseria meningitidis to the antimicrobial peptide LL-37. LÄS MER
