16. Doppler evaluation of coronary blood flow and coronary flow reserve - Clinical and experimental studies
Sammanfattning : Heart diseases in children cause different combinations of myocardial hypertrophy, increased intra-ventricular pressures, volume overload and decreased oxygen saturation. This may affect basal coronary flow and the ability of the heart to maximally increase coronary flow. LÄS MER
17. Mechanisms of Ischemic Brain Injury- studies in murine hippocampal slice cultures
Sammanfattning : Cerebral ischemia is a major cause of mortality and morbidity in the western world. Even though much effort has been put into research and development of effective drugs against ischemic damage there is to date no effective pharmacological brain protective treatment. LÄS MER
18. Ischemic Cell Death in the CNS - applications of a new in vitro model
Sammanfattning : Ischemic brain damage is a common cause of death and disability. A global ischemic insult is usually the result of a transient cardiac arrest while occlusion of cerebral blood vessels leads to focal ischemic lesions, commonly termed stroke. LÄS MER
19. Modeling Biochemical Network Involved in Striatal Dopamine Signaling
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I studied the molecular integration of reward-learning related neuromodulatory inputs by striatal medium-sized projection neurons (MSNs) using mass-action kinetic modeling. It is known that, in reward learning, an unexpected reward results in transient elevation in dopamine (peak) whereas omission of an expected reward leads to transient dopamine decrease (dip). 20. Studies on mitochondrial adenosine triphosphatase : uncoupler-reversible inhibition of mitochondrial ATPase and related enzymes by metal chelates of bathophenenthroline
Sammanfattning : The mitochondrial ATPase constitutes the terminal enzyme of oxidative phosphorylation and is, together with similar enzymes present in chloroplasts and bacteria, responsible for the synthesis of ATP from ADP and Pi during electron transport. The enzyme consists of an extrinsic, catalytically active part, called Fl, that is structurally and functionally linked to an intrinsic, proton-translocating device, called Fo. LÄS MER
