  1. 16. Modeling Biochemical Network Involved in Striatal Dopamine Signaling

    Författare :Anu G. Nair; Jeanette Hellgren Kotaleski; Omar Gutierrez Arenas; Upinder Singh Bhalla; Jakob Kisbye Dreyer; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dopamine signaling; Striatum; Reward learning; Acetylcholine; Mass-action modeling; FRET biosensor; Adenosine; Eligibility trace; Computer Science; Datalogi;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I studied the molecular integration of reward-learning related neuromodulatory inputs by striatal medium-sized projection neurons (MSNs) using mass-action kinetic modeling.It is known that, in reward learning, an unexpected reward results in transient elevation in dopamine (peak) whereas omission of an expected reward leads to transient dopamine decrease (dip). 2. 17. Physiological roles of A1 and A2A adenosine receptors : studies using genetically modified mice

    Författare :Jiang-Ning Yang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Adenosine receptors; genetically modified mice; preconditioning; tolerance; heart rate; body temperature; locomotor activity; caffeine;

    Sammanfattning : Since adenosine receptors were identified and cloned, their roles in animals and humans have been extensively studied. Because pharmacological tools have limitations, we have used mice in which adenosine receptors have been deleted to further study their roles under physiological and pathophysiological conditions. 3. 18. Dopamine receptors in the rat brain

    Författare :Mi Hillefors-Berglund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Dopamine D2 receptors; Dopamine D3 receptors; Rat; Autoradiography; [3H]7-OH-DPAT; [3H]PD 128907; Caudate-putamen; Subcortical limbic area; Islands of Calleja; CGS 21680; Toluene; Neurotensin; Asphyxia; Aging; Magnesium; GTP;

    Sammanfattning : Dopamine receptors belong to a large superfamily of G protein-coupled receptors and consist of the D1, D2, D3, D4, and D5 receptors. The D2, D3, and D4 receptors belong to the D2 receptor family which is characterized by having a large third cytoplasmic loop and a short C-terminus projecting into the cytosol, and by inhibiting the enzyme adenylyl cyclase. 4. 19. Regulation by glutamate- and adenosine-receptors of dopamine and acetylcholine release from rat striatal slices

    Författare :Shaoyu Jin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :striatum; dopamine; acetylcholine; adenosine receptors; glutamatereceptors. ISBN 91-628-2599-2;

    Sammanfattning : The striatum, which is critically involved in sensory motor integration, receives an excitatory glutamatergic input from the cerebral cortex and the thalamus. The effects of the glutamatergic stimulation are modulated by dopamine (DA) released from a prominent dopaminergic input, acetylcholine (ACh) released from cholinergic interneurons and by the ubiquitous neuromodulator adenosine. 5. 20. Adenosine receptors in the immature brain : with special reference to their role in hypoxic ischemia

    Författare :Ulrika Ådén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Newborn; neonatal; caffeine; theophylline; hypoxia-ischemia; adenosine; immature;

    Sammanfattning : Although the newborn brain tolerates a much longer period of oxygen deprivation and ischemia than does the adult brain, perinatal hypoxic ischemia probably is an important cause of neurological dysfunction, cerebral palsy and epilepsy later in life. Hence it is important to investigate the mechanisms that modulate the extent of perinatal ischemic brain damage. LÄS MER
