  1. 1. First Principles Modelling of Clean Energy Materials

    Författare :Pjotrs Žguns; Natalia Skorodumova; Andrei Ruban; Susanne Mirbt; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; DFT; energy; catalysis; ionic conductors; SOFC; adatom charging; anharmonicity; configurational energy; Materials Science and Engineering; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis presents the density functional theory study on clean energy materials relevant for catalysis applications, and for solid oxide fuel cells.In the first part of the thesis the metal supported ultrathin films, namely ScN/Mo, MgO/Mo and NaF/Mo are considered, and the Cu atom adsorption and charging on them is explored. 2. 2. Nanomechanics – Quantum Size Effects, Contacts, and Triboelectricity

    Författare :Martin Olsen; Jonas Örtegren; Håkan Olin; Per Gradin; Peter Glans; Rusen Yang; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :triboelectricity; adatom; ion; charge; mound; quantum size effect; triboelctric nanogenerator; TENG; wind driven; contact; nanomechanics; fri electron model; nanowire cantilever;

    Sammanfattning : Nanomechanics is different from the mechanics that we experience in everyday life. At the nano-scale, typically defined as 1 to 100 nanometers, some phenomena are of crucial importance, while the same phenomena can be completely neglected on a larger scale. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Growth of Wide-Band Gap AlN and (SiC)x(AlN)1-x Thin Films by Reactive Magnetron Sputter Deposition

    Författare :Sukkaneste Tungasmita; Gregory W. Auner; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The research presented in this thesis is focused on thin film synthesis of epitaxial wurtzite structure aluminum nitride (AlN) and related alloy, (SiC)x(AlN)1-x,by ultra-high-vacuum (UHV) reactive magnetron sputter deposition, on silicon carbide (6H-SiC) substrates. The emphasis of the work is on controlling the growth and quality of the films to be able to use the materials in electronic device applications. LÄS MER
