  1. 6. Altered movement patterns and deviating muscular activity in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament injury

    Författare :Anna Trulsson; Människan i rörelse: hälsa och rehabilitering; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Movement pattern; Physiotherapy; Motor control; Sensorimotor control; Neuromuscular control; Anterior cruciate ligament; Muscular activity; Motor skills; Single leg squat; Electromyography EMG ; Postural orientation; Assessment; Task performance; Reproducibility of findings; Performance test; Hop test; knee; dynamic joint stability;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to increase the understanding of altered movement patterns in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in order to improve ACL rehabilitation, and to develop an observational instrument termed Test for Substitution Patterns (TSP) for standardized, quantifiable scoring of altered movement patterns in legs and trunk. In all, 142 participants, 93 with ACL-rupture (37 women) and 49 uninjured participants were investigated. LÄS MER

  2. 7. ON THE EFFICIENCY OF DISPLACEMENT VENTILATION, with Particular Reference to the Influence of Human Physical Activity

    Författare :Magnus Mattsson; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Displacement ventilation; Ventilation efficiency; Physical activity; Human activity; Movements; Transient behaviours; Ceiling height; Wall temperature.; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Sammanfattning : The efficiency of room ventilation by the displacement principle was studied with respect to some influential factors, in particular that of physical activity. The study was experimental and performed in two full-scale test rooms, one of office-size and one of classroom-size. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Breathing Pattern and Lung Mechanics during Assisted Ventilation Response of Slowly Adapting Pulmonary Stretch Receptors and Effects on Phrenic Nerve Activity in Cats with Normal and Surfactant Depleted Lungs

    Författare :Richard Sindelar; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstetrics and gynaecology; slowly adapting pulmonary stretch receptor; phrenic nerve activity; assisted ventilation; surfactant; breathing pattern; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; Obstetrics and women s diseases; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : Different modes of assisted ventilation were investigated in cats before and after lung lavage and after instillation of surfactant. The activity of single units of slowly adapting pulmonary stretch receptors (PSRs) in the vagal nerve and the integrated phrenic nerve activity were recorded. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Distribution and Chemical Diversity of Cyclotides from Violaceae : Impact of Structure on Cytotoxic Activity and Membrane Interactions

    Författare :Robert Burman; Ulf Göransson; Lars Bohlin; William Gerwick; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cyclotide; Violaceae; Viola; Cytotoxic; Mechanism; In vivo; Structure-activity; Membrane; Mass spectrometry; Pharmacognosy; Farmakognosi; Pharmacognosy; Farmakognosi;

    Sammanfattning : During the last decade there has been increased interest in the cyclotide protein family, which consist of a circular chain of approximately 30 amino acids, including six cysteines that form three disulfide bonds, arranged in a cyclic cystine knot motif. This thesis gives new insights in cyclotide distribution and occurrence in the plant family Violaceae, structure-activity relationships for cytotoxic effects, membrane disruption and adsorption on lipid membranes, and evaluates toxicity and anti-tumor activity in vivo.
