  1. 1. The Fight on the Flights : Emergency evacuations – human physiological performance, leg muscle activity and gait biomechanics during exhaustive stair and slope ascent

    Författare :Amitava Halder; Ergonomi och aerosolteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Stair climbing evacuation; Physical work capacity; Physiological constraints; Endurance; Energy expenditure; Oxygen consumption; Electromyography; Muscle fatigue; Incline gait biomechanics; Ground reaction forces; Required coefficient of friction;

    Sammanfattning : Physical exhaustion can constrain stair ascending capacity during emergency evacuation. The overall aim of this research was to explore and compare stair ascending capacities and physiological limitations when using two different modes: 1) self-preferred pace on three different public stairways, and 2) four machine-controlled paces on a stair machine corresponding to different percentages of maximal aerobic capacity (V̇O2max). 2. 2. Women with fibromyalgia : Employment and daily life

    Författare :Gunilla Liedberg; Chris Henriksson; Ann Bengtsson; Jan Ekholm; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; work role; newly-diagnosed; time-use; activity pattern; family work; Medicine; Medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: The major symptoms of fibromyalgia have been shown to severely impact everyday activities. As a consequence, many women have problems remaining in a work role. Not being able to fulfil valued roles influences quality of life. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Image Processing for Quantitative Scintillation-Camera Imaging. Application to Radionuclide Therapy

    Författare :Katarina Sjögreen Gleisner; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; tomografi; radiologi; Klinisk fysiologi; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; 131-I; Clinical physics; SPECT; conjugate-view; volume quantification; activity quantification; image registration; image segmentation; medicinsk instrumentering; Nuclear medicine; radiobiology; Nukleärmedicin; radiobiologi; Radiopharmaceutical technology; Radiofarmaceutisk teknik;

    Sammanfattning : Individual-based determinations of the absorbed dose in radionuclide therapy largely rely on absolute measurement of the activity distribution and its redistribution over time. Scintillation-camera imaging is the most commonly employed measuring technique, applied in planar or SPECT mode, sometimes in combination with structural images from CT. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Pain related aspects of neck muscle performance, functioning and psychosocial factors in individuals with cervical radiculopathy

    Författare :Marie Halvorsen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :activity limitations;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim of the work presented in this thesis was to describe and explore pain-related aspects of neck muscle performance, functioning and psychosocial factors in individuals with cervical radiculopathy (CR). Methods: Participants were 157 patients with CR. Also Study II included 33 asymptomatic age-and gender-matched controls. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The Effects of Temperature on Gut Blood Flow and Gut Motility in Fish

    Författare :Albin Gräns; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fish; thermoregulatory behaviours; electrical activity; biotelemetry;

    Sammanfattning : In order for a fish to grow and thrive, the gut must function efficiently. This is achieved through a range of processes, including controlled patterns of gut motility and modifications in gut blood flow. How these processes are affected by long and short-term changes in ambient temperature was the main focus of this thesis. LÄS MER
