21. Superdiffusive Spin Transport and Ultrafast Magnetization Dynamics : Femtosecond spin transport as the route to ultrafast spintronics
Sammanfattning : The debate over the origin of the ultrafast demagnetization has been intensively active for the past 16 years. Several microscopic mechanisms have been proposed but none has managed so far to provide direct and incontrovertible evidences of their validity. LÄS MER
22. Functional Characterization of Tyrosine Transporters in fibroblast from Healthy Controls and Schizophrenic Patients
Sammanfattning : Cultured human fibroblasts offer an advantageous system to investigate the amino acid transport properties without confounding the affects of disease state and its treatment in many systemic psychiatric disorders. In previous studies, fibroblast cells have been used to investigate the tyrosine transport across plasma membranes in patients with schizophrenia and autism with out characterizing the particular amino acid transporters. 23. Dispersal in free-living, marine, benthic nematodes : passive or active processes?
Sammanfattning : Meiofauna, and especially marine nematodes are common in sediments around the world. Despite very wide ranging distributions in many nematode species, little is presently known about their dispersal mechanisms shaping these patterns. Rafting, and perhaps ballast water transport has been suggested as viable means for nematode long-range transport. LÄS MER
24. Understanding processes and travel behaviour changes connected to electric vehicle adoption
Sammanfattning : The use of electric vehicles (EVs) has the potential to increase the sustainability of the transport system, especially in case of unchanged or decreased car use, eco-driving and charging during hours of low electricity demand in case of an electricity generation mix with a large share of renewable energy sources. However, EVs still use much energy and EV-use does not solve problems regarding accessibility, social equity, traffic safety and has only a limited beneficial effect on liveability (e. LÄS MER
25. Towards computational models for road-user interaction: Drivers overtaking pedestrians and cyclists
Sammanfattning : Introduction: Crashes resulting from a failed interaction between drivers and vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians or cyclists, can lead to severe injuries or fatalities, especially after failed overtaking maneuvers on rural roads where designated refuge areas are often absent, and impact speeds high. This thesis contains two studies that shed light on driver interaction with either 1) a pedestrian or 2) a cyclist, and oncoming traffic while overtaking. LÄS MER
