16. Surface-Induced Modification of Supported Late Transition Metal Complexes
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis addresses the investigation of the electronic, magnetic, and structural properties of late transition metal complexes supported on various surfaces. The research is aimed at studying the interaction between the molecules and the support, together with the intermolecular interaction. This knowledge is essential e.g. LÄS MER
17. Release to the Gas Phase of Potassium, Chlorine, and Sulfur from Biomass Fuels under Dual Fluidized Bed Gasification Conditions
Sammanfattning : The transformation and release of ash-forming elements during the thermal conversion of biomass are conducive to ash-related problems, for example, agglomeration of the bed material in fluidized beds. The occurrence and severity of ash-related problems largely depend on the extents to which potassium (K), chlorine (Cl), and sulfur (S) are released from biomass fuels to the gas phase during thermal conversion processes. 18. A thermostable alkaline protease from a new alkaliphilic Nesterenkonia sp
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns a novel alkaline protease produced by an extremophilic microbial specie, designated as AL20, isolated from a feather sample collected at the shore of the alkaline soda lake Abjata in the Ethiopian Rift Valley. The isolate is a heterotrophic, alkaliphilic, halotolerant gram-positive, strictly aerobic, non-motile, non-spore forming bacterium. LÄS MER
19. Liquid crystalline polymers for nonlinear optics : pyroelectric polymers and ferroelectric dendrimers
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with liquid crystalline materialsincluding monomers, side-chain polymers, crosslinked polymers, and dendrimers. The materials are pyroelectric, meaning thatthere is a macroscopic electric polarization in the material, which is energetically stable in the absence of externalfields. LÄS MER
20. Studies of Volcanic Plumes with Spectroscopic Remote Sensing Techniques
Sammanfattning : Volcanism is a widespread phenomenon on Earth and other planetary bodies. Terrestrial volcanoes are shallow manifestations of deep and complex mechanisms of heat and mass transport and play an important role in the formation and change of the atmosphere and the natural landscape.
