  1. 1. Pharmaceutical Nanocomposites : Structure–Mobility–Functionality Relationships in the Amorphous State

    Författare :Joel Hellrup; Denny Mahlin; Göran Alderborn; László Fábián; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; amorphous; pharmaceutical composites; solid state; structure; molecular mobility; spray-drying; freeze-drying; moisture sorption; physical stability; compression; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Amorphous materials are found in pharmaceutical formulations both as excipients and active ingredients. Indeed, these formulations are becoming an essential strategy for incorporating drugs into well-performing solid dosage forms. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Dissolving the Rocks : Solubility Enhancement of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients using Mesoporous Silica

    Författare :Xin Xia; Alfonso E. Garcia-Bennett; Xiaodong Zou; Göran Frenning; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mesoporous silica; drug delivery; solubility enhancement; active pharmaceutical ingredients; oral toxicity; confinement; crystallization; pharmaceutical excipients; bioavailability; Inorganic Chemistry; oorganisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Poor aqueous solubility is one of the greatest barriers for new drug candidates to enter toxicology studies, let alone clinical trials. This thesis focuses on contributing to solving this problem, evaluating the oral toxicity of mesoporous silica particles, and enhancing the apparent solubility and bioavailability of active pharmaceutical ingredients in vitro and in vivo using mesoporous silica particles. Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the development of liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) methods for the trace analysis of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and their metabolites in aqueous environmental matrices. The research was focused on the development of chiral LC-MS/MS methods for the analysis of fluoxetine and metoprolol, as well as their chiral metabolites in environmental water samples. LÄS MER

  4. 4. 3D printing of lipid-based formulations into personalized solid oral dosage forms

    Författare :Jenny Johannesson; Christel Bergström; Alexandra Teleki; Mattias Paulsson; Maria Strömme; Abdul Basit; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; poorly water-soluble drug; lipid-based formulation; Pickering emulsion; emulsion gel; semi-solid extrusion; 3D printing; lipid tablet; personalized dosage form; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Sammanfattning : The pharmaceutical development process starts with patient populations and their unmet therapeutic needs. Traditional pharmaceutical manufacturing of solid oral dosage forms is based on the strategy of one-size-fits-all. This is problematic, especially for patient populations with high patient-to-patient variability, as in pediatrics. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Powder mechanics and dispersion properties of adhesive mixtures for dry powder inhalers : Conceptualized as a blend state model

    Författare :Jonas Rudén; Göran Alderborn; Göran Frenning; Tobias Bramer; Kyrre Thalberg; Regina Scherliess; Uppsala universitet; []
