1. Alcohol and aging : a multimethod study on heterogeneity and multidimensionality
Sammanfattning : Background and Objectives: With an ageing population, the number of older persons with substance use problems, particularly problematic alcohol use, is increasing. Despite growing recognition of the negative consequences of problematic alcohol use on older persons, there is a dearth of knowledge about the alcohol use profiles and the dimensionality of alcohol problems in older people. 2. Titania supported vanadium oxide catalysts in the NH3-SCR reaction: Effect of vanadium loading, promoters and aging
Sammanfattning : Emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) from combustion processes in mobile sources attract significant attention due to their role as a major source of atmospheric contamination, along with health risks and environmental issues. Since combustion processes in heavy-duty vehicles are expected to be used for a foreseeable future, many efforts have been invested in a suitable deNOx technology. LÄS MER
3. Retaining the Aging Workforce: Studies of the interplay between individual and organizational capability in the context of prolonged working lives
Sammanfattning : Amidst the realities of workforce aging and policies to prolong the working life across Europe, policymakers and researchers have emphasized the employer’s role in providing suitable working conditions for older workers under the human resource term “age management.” Although the definition of age management refers to all age groups, previous research has primarily used the concept in the context of older workers’ employment participation. 4. Being active in working life at older ages
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the thesis was to examine factors associated with (Study 1), predictors (Study II), and experiences (Study III) involved with being active in working life after the expected retirement age and the experiences of exiting working life before the expected retirement age (Study IV). In Studies I and II, a quantitative approach was used, with data derived from the Swedish National Study on Aging and Care (SNAC). LÄS MER
5. Do psychosocial working conditions contribute to healthy and active aging? studies of mortality, late-life health, and leisure
Sammanfattning : The growing demographic challenge posed by an aging population makes finding predictors of health in old age increasingly important. This thesis investigated long-term associations between midlife psychosocial working conditions and late-life health and leisure and examined whether sense of coherence in midlife modified the association between psychosocial working conditions and all-cause mortality.
