  1. 1. Mechanical activation of clay : a novel route to sustainable cementitious binders

    Författare :Ilda Tole; Andrzej Cwirzen; Mirja Illikainen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; clay; sustainability; mechanical activation; ball milling; supplementary cementitious materials; alkali-activated materials; Byggmaterial; Building Materials;

    Sammanfattning : EU Sustainable Development Strategy planned to achieve improvement of life-quality by promoting sustainable production and consumption of raw materials. On November 2018, EU Commission presented a long-term strategy, aiming among others a climate-neutral economy by 2050. Cement production is contributing to 6-10% of the anthropogenic CO2 emissions. 2. 2. Platelet Activation and Inhibition in Connection with Vascular Stents

    Författare :Kjeld Christensen; Rolf Larsson; Sten Husted; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medicine; platelets; inhibition; activation; stents; ACS; Medicin;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the Chandler loop, which makes it possible to conduct studies in vitro of molecular and cellular interactions between whole blood and stents. It was possible to monitor activation and inhibition of the cascades systems, leukocytes and platelets by combining different platelet inhibitors and heparin coating of stents. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Investigating parameters governing liquid-phase cloud activation of atmospheric particles

    Författare :Maryam Dalirian; Ilona Riipinen; Ottmar Möhler; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; CCN activation; surface tension; coated aerosols; black carbon; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Aerosol-cloud interactions are one of the main sources of uncertainties in modeling and predicting the Earth’s climate. To overcome this uncertainty, we need to improve the understanding about the processes and parameters defining how aerosol particles turn into cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) or ice nuclei (IN) to produce cloud droplets or ice crystals. 4. 4. Characterization, Activation and Reactivity of Natural Pozzolans for Use as Supplementary Cementitious Materials

    Författare :Amrita Hazarika; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Reactivity; Volcanic Materials.; Clays; Pozzolans; Activation; SCMs;

    Sammanfattning : Supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) represent one of the most practicable ways to reduce the negative environmental impact of cement. Natural pozzolans like clays and volcanic materials (VMs) offer promising alternatives to industrial by-products such as blast furnace slags and fly ashes, whose availability cannot meet the growing demand for SCMs globally. Sammanfattning : Deep learning, the study of multi-layered artificial neural networks, has received tremendous attention over the course of the last few years. Neural networks are now able to outperform humans in a growing variety of tasks and increasingly have an impact on our day-to-day lives. LÄS MER
