11. Carbon monoxide in biological systems : An experimental and clinical study
Sammanfattning : Background: Carbon monoxide (CO) is a toxic gas, but it is also produced endogenously when haem is degraded. When produced in vivo, CO is believed to have positive biological effects. For example it activates the production of cyclic guanosine mono-phosphate and causes vasodilatation. LÄS MER
12. Carbon utilisation for extended nitrogen removal and resource savings
Sammanfattning : A full-scale in-line primary sludge hydrolysis experiment was conducted in one out of four primary settlers at the Klagshamn Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) to test if the wastewater quality can be improved in terms of providing easily accessible carbon for possible pre-denitrification and the reduction of external carbon sources. The amount of easily accessible carbon produced, in the form of the volatile fatty acid (VFA), alkalinity and ammonium concentrations, was measured throughout the entire full-scale experiment at the outlet of the hydrolysis tank and that of the ordinary primary settler, which served as a reference line. 13. Partial renewal of granular activated carbon filters for improved drinking water treatment
Sammanfattning : Drinking water is widely collected from surface water sources. In these water sources, both the quantity and quality of natural organic matter (NOM) have been affected around the world during the last decades, especially in Northern Europe and North America. LÄS MER
14. Molecular filtration : the study of adsorbents
Sammanfattning : Adsorbent materials for gas purification have been studied and developed for application in many areas. It is known that a single adsorbent may not adequately control multiple contaminants. Therefore, the development of adsorbent materials has accelerated over the past two decades, and is today an area attracting a lot of attention. LÄS MER
15. Preparation and Evaluation of New Nanoporous Silica Materials for Molecular Filtration and for Core Materials in Vacuum Insulation Panels
Sammanfattning : Nanoporous materials for gas purification and thermal insulation have been studied and developed for application in many areas. It is known that a single adsorbent may not adequately control multiple contaminants. Further the utilization of nanoporous material as thermal insulator in building applications is limited due to high cost. LÄS MER
