    Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis concerns flanking transmission in light weight, wooden multi-storey buildings within the low frequency, primarily 20-120 Hz. The overall aim is to investigate how the finite element method can contribute in the design phase to evaluate different junctions regarding flanking transmission. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Structure-Acoustic Analysis; Methods, implementations and applications

    Författare :Per-Anders Wernberg; Byggnadsmekanik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; vibration and acoustic engineering; vacuum technology; hydraulics; numerical; Mechanical engineering; finite element ; Structure-Acoustic ; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik; Maskinteknik; hydraulik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates structure-acoustic problems, which involve a flexible structure coupled to an enclosed acoustic fluid. In the literature, this type of problem is usually referred to as vibroacoustic problems or structure-acoustic problems with fluid interaction. The thesis consists of two parts. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Acoustic Forces in Cytometry and Biomedical Applications: Multidimensional Acoustophoresis

    Författare :Carl Grenvall; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Acoustophoresis; Microfluidics; Ultrasound; Multinode; Cell Sorting; Particle Positioning; Cytometry; Lab-on-a-Chip; µTAS; Binary Separation; Acoustic Barriers; Acoustic Particle Manipulation; Acoustic Standing Waves; Blood Separation; Milk Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Over the last decades the ongoing work in the fields of Lab-on-a-Chip and Micro-Total-Analysis-Systems has led to the discovery of new or improved ways to handle and analyse small volumes of biofluids and complex biosuspensions. The benefits of working on the microscale include: miniaturization of the analysis systems with less need for large sample volumes; temporal and spatial control of suspended particle/cell positions; low volume sheath flow lamination or mixing; novel separation techniques by using forces inherent to the microscale domain; precise regulation of sample temperatures and rapid analysis with less volumes needed to be processed. 4. 4. Perception, Analysis and Synthesis of Speaker Age

    Författare :Susanne Schötz; Fonetik; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; phonology; perceptual cues; speaker age; automatic speaker recognition; acoustic analysis; acoustic correlates; data-driven; Phonetics; formant synthesis; Fonetik; fonologi; Technological sciences; Teknik;

    Sammanfattning : Speaker age is an important paralinguistic feature in speech which has to be considered in the study of phonetic variation. Knowledge about this feature may be used to improve speech technology applications, e.g. automatic speech recognition and speech synthesis. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Computational analysis and design optimization for acoustic devices

    Författare :Abbas Mousavi; Eddie Wadbro; Martin Berggren; Niels Aage; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Design optimization; computational analysis; viscothermal acoustics; material distribution topology optimization; acoustic black holes; finite element method;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on material distribution topology optimization for acoustic waveguides. The limitations of the material distribution approach are discussed in the context of acoustic waveguides with extensive viscous and thermal boundary losses. LÄS MER
