   Sammanfattning : Background: Dual antiplatelet therapy with acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) and the adenosine diphosphate (ADP)-receptor antagonist ticagrelor increases the risk of bleeding complications during cardiac surgery. Leukotriene B4 (LTB4) is a potent chemoattractant for neutrophils and contributes to bacterial killing, while the cysteinyl leukotrienes (LTC4, LTD4 and LTE4) elicit increased vascular permeability, bronchoconstriction, eosinophil trafficking and mucus secretion. The aim of this project was to investigate the prevalence and effects of platelet inhibition in the context of cardiac surgery, the bleeding problems that may occur, and treatment of bleeding complications.
