11. Engineering of Native Cellulose Structure for Pharmaceutical Applications : Influence of Cellulose Crystallinity Index, Surface Area and Pore Volume on Sorption Phenomena
Sammanfattning : Cellulose powders from various sources were manufactured and characterized to investigate the influence of their crystallinity index, surface area, and pore volume on sorption phenomena and the relevant pharmaceutical functionality. The influence of the cellulose crystallinity index on moisture sorption was important at low and intermediate relative humidities. LÄS MER
12. Cardiac surgery and antiplatelet therapy
Sammanfattning : Background Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) with acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) and a P2Y12 inhibitor improves outcome in acute coronary syndrome (ACS). In the subset of ACS patients undergoing urgent cardiac surgery, ongoing or recently discontinued DAPT is associated with increased risk of bleeding. LÄS MER
13. Estimation of acute toxicity by using the differentiated neuronal progenitor C17.2 cell model
Sammanfattning : The authorities in Europe and United States request information regarding possible toxicity for substances that are produced in one tonne or more per year. Estimation of acute systemic toxicity is conducted in vivo using mice or rats. LÄS MER
14. Oxidative stress and proteolysis in the lens. Effects of anti-inflammatory drugs
Sammanfattning : Oxidative stress has been implied in formation of age-related cataract. The objectives of this thesis were to study redox regulation of proteolysis and oxidative/antioxidative effects of anti-inflammatory substances in human lens epithelial cells (HLEC) and intact mouse lenses. 15. Platelet inhibition and secondary prevention in cardiac surgery patients
Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT Background and objective Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is the most common cardiac surgery procedure. Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) reduces the risk for ischaemic events in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) but increases the bleeding risk, both for spontaneous bleedings and procedure-related bleedings for the subset of ACS patients undergoing urgent CABG.
