1. Oxidative Trifluoromethylation and other Functionalization Reactions of Alkenes and Alkynes
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the use of various potent oxidants in organic synthesis. The main focus is directed at selectively introducing trifluoromethyl groups into compounds containing double or triple bonds. All reactions proceed under mild conditions and can in most cases be performed on the bench-top. LÄS MER
2. C-H Activation Reactions Mediated by Pd Based Heterogeneous Catalysts : Regioselective Formation of C-O and C-X Bonds
Sammanfattning : New classes of N-heterocyclic carbene-palladium(II) complexes containing either a vinyl group in different positions or an anthracene tag in the backbone of the N-heterocycle were synthesized and fully characterized. The vinyl based complexes were copolymerized with divinylbenzene to fabricate robust polymer-supported NHC-Pd(II) systems, while the anthracene based complexes were π-stacked onto the surface of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) producing immobilized catalysts with interesting features. 3. Heterogeneously Catalyzed Valorization of Monoterpenes to High Value-Added Chemicals
Sammanfattning : A potential industrial process is profitable only if it is successfully implemented by the continuously developing chemical industry. Throughout last decades heterogeneous catalysis has opened doors to the creation of various know-how products which previously were considered unfeasible. LÄS MER
4. Unveiling catalytic species in suspension/solution-based reactions by in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : The palladium (Pd) and ruthenium (Ru) species in several attractive catalysts have been probed using X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). The study of catalyst evolution in suspension- and solution-based reactions was the primary aim. It was achieved by performing in situ XAS experiments on Pd and Ru over the course of the reactions.
