11. Disillusioned in Democracy : Labour and the state in post-transitional Chile and Uruguay
Sammanfattning : This dissertation focuses on how social movements change their identity and strategies during a transition from dictatorship to democracy, and how this affects politics in general. More specifically, the involvement of labour centrals in three different areas of economic policy formation is studied in a comparison between Chile and Uruguay. LÄS MER
12. Process Models for CO2 Migration and Leakage : Gas Transport, Pore-Scale Displacement and Effects of Impurities
Sammanfattning : Geological Carbon Storage (GCS) is considered as one of the key techniques to reduce the rate of atmospheric emissions of CO2 and thereby to contribute to controlling the global warming. A successful application of a GCS project requires the capability of the formation to trap CO2 for a long term. LÄS MER
13. Healthcare financing challenges and opportunities to achieving universal health coverage in the low- and middle-income country context
Sammanfattning : Background: In Bangladesh, on an average 62% of total healthcare spending was borne by households through out-of-pocket (OOP) payments annually during 2000- 2015. Because of such high OOP payments, a sizable proportion of households (15.7%) faced catastrophic health expenditure (CHE) and a number of them fell into poverty in 2010. LÄS MER
14. Modeling of geohydrological processes in geological CO2 storage – with focus on residual trapping
Sammanfattning : Geological storage of carbon dioxide (CO2) in deep saline aquifers is one approach to mitigate release from large point sources to the atmosphere. Understanding of in-situ processes providing trapping is important to the development of realistic models and the planning of future storage projects. LÄS MER
15. Modeling long-term variability and change of soil moisture and groundwater level - from catchment to global scale
Sammanfattning : The water stored in and flowing through the subsurface is fundamental for sustaining human activities and needs, feeding water and its constituents to surface water bodies and supporting the functioning of their ecosystems. Quantifying the changes that affect the subsurface water is crucial for our understanding of its dynamics and changes driven by climate change and other changes in the landscape, such as in land-use and water-use.
