  1. 1. Free Volume Determination in Polymers and Polymer Blends

    Författare :Camilla Wästlund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; positronium formation; crystallinity; polymer blends; inhibition; polymers; free volume; positron annihilation; phase separation; distribution;

    Sammanfattning : The free volume of a polymer, which corresponds to the unoccupied regions accessible to segmental motions, is an important parameter for understanding and predicting many of its characteristic properties. The concept of free volume is the basis for understanding the molecular mobility in polymers. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Nano-particulate Silica Hydrogels Imaged in 2D and 3D using TEM: Effects of local pore structure on mass transport and applications in aggregation dynamics

    Författare :Charlotte Hamngren Blomqvist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; silica gel; colloidal silica gel; interconnectivity; nanoporous; electron tomography; silica nanoparticle gel; mass transport; nanostructure; accessible volume fraction; 3D structure;

    Sammanfattning : Porous materials are frequently used in everyday applications including food science, pharmaceuticals, fuel cell membranes, batteries and solar cells. A key aspect in these porous materials is how their micro- and nano-structure affect the internal transport of for example water, particles or charges. The transport is a three-dimensional process. 3. 3. The interaction of hydrogen with metallic glass

    Författare :Johan Bylin; Gunnar K. Pálsson; Ralph H. Scheicher; Gabriella Andersson; Astrid Pundt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; metallic glass; hydrogen; thin film; density functional theory; stochastic quenching; molecular dynamics; x-ray diffraction; pair distribution function; neutron reflectometry; volume expansion; elastic hydrogen-hydrogen interaction; dipole force tensor; electronic structure; optical conductivity; resistivity; optical transmission; x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; thermodynamic driving force; Gibbs free energy; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Combining theoretical ab initio calculations with high-purity thin film sample synthesis and in situ measurements is a compelling way to bridge the gap in our understanding concerning hydrogen in metallic glasses, which is the primary work of this dissertation thesis. The main emphasis has been on how hydrogen affects the structure of metallic glasses, and how those changes influence not only the electronic properties of the amorphous metals but also their thermal stability. 4. 4. Processes in Optical Diesel Engines - Emissions Formation and Heat Release

    Författare :Ulf Aronsson; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Diesel Engines; Optical Engines; Heat Release; Combustion; Emissions Formation; Mechanical Deformation;

    Sammanfattning : This project deals with questions related to generic diesel combustion research and optically accessible engines are used to study the combustion process. Images of the combustion are analyzed together with in-cylinder pressure and exhaust gas emission measurements. LÄS MER

  5. 5. In the hands of ohm : hemodynamic aspects in pulmonary hypertension

    Författare :Erik Tossavainen; Per Lindqvist; Michael Henein; Stefan Söderberg; Peter Eriksson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; kardiologi; Cardiology;

    Sammanfattning : Congestive heart failure (CHF) is one of the most challenging diseases in terms of health care demand and mortality, in the western world. Despite major breakthroughs in the fields of diagnosis and treatment over the three last decades, the management of CHF still remains challenging. LÄS MER
