  1. 1. Ventilation distribution in the lung periphery measured by inert gas washout : influence of increased gravity, anti-G suit pressure, body posture, and breathing pattern

    Författare :Mikael Grönkvist; Göran Hedenstierna; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :acceleration; anti-G suit; body posture; cdi; dcdi; human centrifuge; He; hypergravuty; lung; multiple-breath washout; single-breath washout; SF 6; standing; supune; trapped gas; ventilation distribution; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The lung is highly sensitive to forces of gravity and acceleration, and to surrounding pressures. This thesis aimed to assess the effects on ventilation distribution in peripheral lung units when changing the direction or magnitude of the gravitational vector and when compressing the lower body half with an anti-G suit (AGS). 2. 2. A reliability study of electronic components and electret foils, including latent failures due to submission to electrostatic discharges in a historical retrospective

    Författare :Sten Hellström; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :reliability; failure mechanism; acceleration tests; ESD; latent failure; ;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the reliability and life-time ofelectronic components and ways to determine these factors.Plastic encapsulated and open test circuits were assessed atdifferent humidity and temperature conditions. From the resultsan acceleration factor could be derived using the Arrheniusrelation. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Wind-induced vibrations in tall timber buildings : Design standards, experimental and numerical modal analyses

    Sammanfattning : Climate change and densification of cities are two major global challenges. Inthe building and construction industry, there are great expectations that tall timberbuildings will constitute one of the most sustainable solutions. First, verticalurban growth is energy and resource-efficient. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Loads and responses for planing craft in waves

    Författare :Anders Rosén; Dan Zenker; Brian Hayman; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Applied mechanics; planing craft; high-speed craft; waves; model tests; sull-scale trials; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Experimental and numerical analysis of loads and responses for planing craft in waves is considered. Extensive experiments have been performed on a planing craft, in full-scale as well as in model scale. The test set-ups and significant results are reviewed. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Initial Studies of Dynamic Responses of Female and Male Volunteers in Rear Impact Tests

    Författare :Anna K Carlsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; dynamic response; rear impact; response corridors; volunteers; crash test; neck injury; whiplash; females;

    Sammanfattning : Whiplash Associated Disorder (WAD) - commonly denoted whiplash injury - resulting from vehicle impacts, is a worldwide epidemic. These injuries occur at relatively low changes of velocity (typically between 10-25 km/h) and in impacts from all directions. Rear impacts are however the most common in the accident statistics.
