Sammanfattning : Advertisers invest substantial amounts of money in advertising and need to know whether these investments pay off. Given that advertising generally has both short-term and long-term effects and that the behavioral effects of advertising are influenced by numerous other factors, intermediate measures are needed that gauge the mental effects of advertising in the target audience. 18. Where Scholars are Made : Gendered Arenas of Persona Formation in Finnish Folkloristics, 1918–1932
Sammanfattning : This dissertation investigates how two Finnish folklorists, Elsa Enäjärvi (1901–1951) and Martti Haavio (1899–1973), obtained information about perceptions of what constituted good and acknowledged scholars and how they responded to these implicit and explicit expectations and requirements. The dissertation uses the concept of scholarly persona as an analytical tool to identify notions of good scholars as well as Enäjärvi’s and Haavio’s processes to form themselves as such. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : This thesis studies how the proliferation of performance measurement within Swedish universities has affected the way university actors perceive academic work. The wide diffusion of performance measures in academia is conceptualised as a reflection of changes in the wider societal culture that may be attributed to comprehensive public sector reforms, the globalisation of the higher education sector and novel perspectives and expectations on universities.
