6. Aspects of Intraoperative Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation
Sammanfattning : Background: Increasing knowledge about mechanisms that trigger and maintain atrial fibrillation (AF) has influenced the possibilities for treatment and even cure of AF. The surgical Cox Maze III procedure is still the gold standard for the curative treatment of AF. LÄS MER
7. Outcomes and safety of new techniques for pulmonary vein isolation in patients with paroxysmal and persistent atrial fibrillation : A study based on randomised trials and registries
Sammanfattning : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common disease with a high prevalence in the adult population. Treatment of AF encompasses antiarrhythmic drugs and catheter ablation to reduce symptoms. LÄS MER
8. Atrial fibrillation in cardiac surgery
Sammanfattning : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia seen in clinical practice. In cardiac surgery, one-third of the patients experience episodes of AF during the first postoperative days (postoperative AF), and patients with preoperative AF (concomitant AF) can be offered ablation procedures in conjunction with surgery, in order to restore ordinary sinus rhythm (SR). 9. Adhesion to machined and laser ablated wood surfaces
Sammanfattning : This thesis is a contribution to the R&D-program ValueActivation at KTH,Division of Wood Technology and Processingand containsfive papers related to the evaluation and development ofmachining techniques (mechanical and irradiation treatments)whereby weak boundaries at the wood surfaces in the form of(mechanical) weak boundary layers and (micro) cracks due tomechanical treatment can be avoided. The first paper describes the development of a methodusing a UV laserto study the mechanically weakenedboundaries. 10. Localised and Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma. Aspects of Treatment
Sammanfattning : Localised and Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma. Aspects of Treatment. Aims: Paper I To assess the long-term results in patients operated with NSS in situ for RCC, with special reference to their dependence on tumour grade and stage. LÄS MER
