1. Ion-Crosslinked Nanocellulose Hydrogels for Advanced Wound Care Applications
Sammanfattning : A current trend in the field of wound care is the development of wound healing materials that are designed to address specific types of wounds or underlying pathologies to achieve improved healing. At the same time, there is a societal drive to replace synthetic materials with renewable alternatives. LÄS MER
2. Oxidative Stress, Angiogenesis and Inflammation in Normal Pregnancy and Postpartum
Sammanfattning : The aims were to investigate oxidative stress (I), angiogenesis (II) and inflammation (III-IV) in healthy women during pregnancy and postpartum. Oxidative stress was estimated by measurement of 8-iso-PGF2α and the antioxidants α- and γ-tocopherol. LÄS MER
3. Prostaglandins and Isoprostanes in Relation to Risk Factors for Atherosclerosis : Role of Inflammation and Oxidative Stress
Sammanfattning : Inflammation and oxidative stress may be involved in atherogenesis. This thesis describes clinical studies of prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α), an inflammatory mediator, and the isoprostane 8-iso-PGF2α, a reliable indicator of oxidative stress, and cytokine-related inflammatory mediators and indicators in healthy subjects and in a population-based cohort of Swedish men. 4. Studies on dephosphorisation during steelmaking
Sammanfattning : This work is aimed at understanding the thermodynamic principles influencing the phosphorus partition between slag and steel during steelmaking, particularly during refining of high-phosphorus hot metal using the basic oxygen steelmaking (BOS) process. Mapping of the slag path has been carried out using a mass balance model based on input conditions and off-gas analysis, which has been validated by intermediate measurements of slag and metal composition in an industrial basic oxygen furnace (BOF). 5. Single Phase Active Power Factor Correction Converters - Methods for Optimizing EMI, Performance and Costs
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, front-end solutions with single-phase power factor correction (PFC) capability are studied. The reduction of current harmonics using various PFC techniques is investigated and related to the EN 61000-3-2 standard. LÄS MER
