  1. 1. Disentangling production and climate signals from high-resolution Beryllium records: implications for solar and geomagnetic reconstructions

    Författare :Minjie Zheng; MERGE: ModElling the Regional and Global Earth system; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Solar Activity; 10Be; 7Be; ice cores; tropopause; climate; cosmogenic radionuclides; geomagnetic reconstructions; multi-linear regression;

    Sammanfattning : The sun is the most important energy source for the Earth’s climate system, however, influences of solar variations on climate are not fully understood. Studying past solar activity can improve our understanding of what role the sun plays in Earth’s climate. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Regulation of HPV16 Early Gene Expression

    Författare :Yunji Zheng; Avdelningen för medicinsk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; HPV16; splicing; mRNA; hnRNP A1; hnRNP G; E6; E7; E1; E2;

    Sammanfattning : Human papillomavirus type 16 (HPV16) is the most common high-risk type and isassociated with more than 50% cervical cancer cases as well as a number of headand neck cancer cases. The life cycle of HPV16 is strictly linked to celldifferentiation in the squamous epithelium with expression of the HPV16 earlygenes. LÄS MER

  3. 3. How Immigrants Invent : Evidence from Sweden

    Författare :Yannu Zheng; CIRCLE; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; First-generation immigrants; Migration policy; Occupation; Education; Region of origin; Age; Sector; Selection; Human capital; Adults; Children; Patent; Inventors; Second-generation immigrants;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the inventive performance of immigrants in Sweden based on a special database which links inventors to the general population of the country from 1985 to 2007. It shows that the inventive performance of immigrants is influenced by immigrants’ age at migration, region of origin, educational level, match between education and occupation and migration policy. 4. 4. The origins and consequences of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder

    Författare :Zheng Chang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is characterized by developmentally inappropriate levels of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, and is the most common neurodevelopmental disorder of childhood. This highly prevalent disorder is estimated to affect about 5% of school-age children worldwide, with a substantial degree of persistence over time. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation of telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT) expression : the role of histone modification and alternative splicing

    Författare :Zheng Ge; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Telomerase, an RNA-dependent DNA polymerase responsible for telomeric DNA elongation, is silent in most normal differentiated human cells due to the tight repression of its catalytic unit, telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT), whereas constitutive hTERT expression and telomerase activation are prerequisites for cellular immortalization/malignant transformation. As reconfiguration of chromatin acts like a master on/off switch, determining whether particular genes are active or inactive, the project was specifically designed to first elucidate molecular strategies that integrate diverse signalling pathways at the hTERT chromatin and consequently result in telomerase activation or repression in normal and malignant human cells.
