  1. 6. Swimming with the current : Fictive locomotion reveals subtle phenotypes in the zebrafish locomotor network

    Författare :Harmen Kornelis Koning; Henrik Boije; David McLean; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dmrt3a; wt1a; spinal cord; Mauthner cell; neural development; locomotor network; zebrafish;

    Sammanfattning : Neural networks are the functional building blocks of the central nervous system. To better understand how these networks develop and operate, we turned to the zebrafish locomotor network, with a focus on subtypes of interneurons expressing dmrt3a and wt1a. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The vertebrate skeleton is composed of bony and cartilaginous structures that are developed under the control of numerous genetic networks. The transcription factor Nkx3. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Zebrafish models for large-scale genetic screens in dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis : Validation and application

    Författare :Manoj Kumar Bandaru; Marcel den Hoed; Anastasia Emmanouilidou; Ingelsson Erik; Shannon Fisher; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; zebrafish; dyslipidemia; atherosclerosis; genetic screens; high-cholesterol diet; APOE; APOB; LDLR; APOC2; PCSK9; LPAR2; GATAD2A; Medicinsk genetik; Medical Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Hundreds of loci have been robustly associated with circulating lipids, atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease; but for most loci the causal genes and mechanisms remain uncharacterized. The overall aim of my thesis is to develop and validate novel in vivo model systems that are suitable for high-throughput, image-based genetic screens in coronary artery disease and related traits, and use these model systems to systematically characterize positional candidate genes. 4. 9. Studies of the Neuropeptide Y Receptor Y2 in Human and Zebrafish

    Författare :Helena Fällmar; Dan Larhammar; Ingrid Lundell; Nina Mohell; Raquel E. Rodríguez Rodríguez; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Y2-receptor; NPY; PYY; G-protein-coupled receptor; mutagenesis; receptor binding; zebrafish; evolution; Pharmacology; Farmakologi; Farmakologi; Pharmacology;

    Sammanfattning : The G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) comprise the largest family of receptors in humans and other vertebrates. They are embedded in the cell membrane and are activated by many different signaling molecules. Activation modulates cellular signal transduction pathways and influences many physiological processes. 5. 10. Physiological roles of amyloid precursor protein in vivo - zebrafish as a model

    Författare :Jasmine Chebli; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Amyloid-beta precursor protein; amyloid precursor protein-b; zebrafish; physiological functions; development; trigeminal ganglia; ependyma; cilia; proteomics; translational adaptation;

    Sammanfattning : Amyloid-beta precursor protein (APP) is an evolutionarily conserved transmembrane protein expressed in many different tissues. APP belongs to a gene family consisting of two other APP-like proteins (APLP1 and APLP2). LÄS MER
