  1. 1. Role of the Yersinia protein YopK in microbe-host interactions

    Författare :Sara Thorslund; Maria Fällman; James Bliska; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Yersinia; YopK; T3SS; antiphagocytosis; neutrophil; translocation; virulence; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : There are three human pathogenic species of the genus Yersiniae: Yersinia pestis, Yersinia enterocolitica, and Yersinia pseudotuberculosis. To cause disease, these strains inhibit several key innate defense mechanisms, including phagocytosis, the critical process for bacterial clearance. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The multifunctional GAP protein YopE of Yersinia is involved in effector translocation control and virulence

    Författare :Elin Isaksson; Hans Wolf-Watz; Joseph Barbieri; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Yersinia; T3SS; YopE; GAP activity; translocation control; virulence; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : The Gram-negative bacterium Yersinia pseudotuberculosis employs a type 3 secretion system (T3SS) to establish infections. The T3SS translocates a diverse set of effector proteins directly into the host cells. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Perturbation of the epithelial barrier by enteric pathogens

    Författare :Farideh Tafazoli; Magnusson Karl-Eric; Hakon Leffler; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :enteric pathogens: signal transduction; barrier function; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Gastrointestinal infections in humans have been associated with a number of diseased condition, including stomach ulcers, gastroenteritis, Crohn's disease, and rheumatic arthritis. Such infections often cause altered intestinal permeability through perturbation of the tight junctions that hold epithelial cells together. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Role of YopE and LcrH in effector translocation, HeLa cell cytotoxicity and virulence

    Författare :Margareta Aili; Roland Rosqvist; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Yersinia pseudotuberculosis; bacterial pathogenesis; YopE; LcrH; virulence; effector translocation; type III secretion; regulation; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : In order to establish an extra-cellular infection the gram-negative bacteria Yersinia pseudotuberculosis uses a type III secretion system (T3SS) to translocate a set of anti-host effectors into eukaryotic cells. The toxins disrupt signalling pathways important for phagocytosis, cytokine production and cell survival. LÄS MER
