In connection to this, the purpose is also to discuss the potential of developing a historical consciousness among the students as well as the possibility of bringing insights into the importance of fundamental democratic values.     Sammanfattning : The overarching purpose of this dissertation is to explore possible ways of designing history teaching about genocides to enable learning that develops both knowledge of the history of genocides and the students’ ability to use history for orientation in everyday life.
