11. Aqueous Processing of WC-Co Powders Aqueous processing of WC-Co powders
Sammanfattning : The object of this work is toobtain a fundamental understanding of the principal issuesconcerning the handling of WC-Co powders, in an aqueousmedium. The oxidation and dissolution oftungsten carbide powder dispersed in water was investigatedusing X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and leachingstudies. 12. Synchrotron Radiation Studies of Free and Adsorbed Molecules
Sammanfattning : This thesis contains two parts. The first part concerns the research work on free molecules using synchrotron-radiation-related techniques. Auger electron spectra of two free open-shell molecules, O2 and NO, were studied experimentally and theoretically. LÄS MER
13. Electronic and Geometric Structure of Phthalocyanines on Metals
Sammanfattning : Adsorption of monolayers and multilayers of metal-free and metal phthalocyanines molecules on metal surfaces has been investigated using complementary microscopic and synchrotron-based spectroscopic techniques. It was observed by STM measurements that at monolayer coverage the adsorption direction of the metal-free phthalocyanine molecules with respect to the gold surface vary as a function of temperature, i. 14. Growth and Characterization of ZnO Nanocrystals
Sammanfattning : The understanding of surfaces of materials is of crucial importance to all of us. Considering nanocrystals (NCs), that have a large surface to bulk ratio, the surfaces become even more important. Therefore, it is important to understand the fundamental surface properties in order to use NCs efficiently in applications. LÄS MER
15. Inhibition of Aluminium Pigments for Waterborne Coatings
Sammanfattning : Micrometer-sized aluminium flakes for use as pigments in waterborne coatings need protection, since the reaction between aluminium and water causes formation of aluminium hydroxide and hydrogen gas. The aluminium hydroxide destroys the metallic appearance of the pigment flakes and the evolution of hydrogen gas leads to a dangerous pressure build-up in the paint containers. LÄS MER
